And Now I’m Washing Dishes By Hand

Thursday, July 1, 2010 by Lolli 14 Comments

Last week, I was with my mom and sister and all five of my kids, enjoying the luxury of eating out every night and waking up in a hotel room every morning.

Last week, I was riding on a historic train, looking out at some of the most beautiful scenery in the country, and floating down the Lazy River on an inner tube.

Last week, I hardly blogged, I hardly worked, and I spent all day with my family.

Last week, I caught some amazing pictures, but even more importantly I captured some incredible memories.

This week, we’ve jumped into summer with both feet. The kids are in camp, I am trying to catch up on my to-do list, and our schedule is intense. I don’t think I took more than 5 pictures this week.

Instead, I’ve been packing lunches, doing laundry (I still haven’t caught up), driving kids here and there, cooking dinner, and all of those other things that Mommys do.

And now I am washing dishes by hand. As if maintaining the dishes for seven people weren’t bad enough with the dishwasher working, I have now deemed the dishwasher worthy only to hold clean, drying dishes. I spent no less than 2 hours at the sink tonight washing cups, bowls, silverware, pots, pans, ice cream scoops, measuring cups, plates (you get the picture) in hot soapy water that I had to renew every 12 minutes.

You can bet I’ve wished that I could relive some of last week again. And again.

PSST…don’t forget to vote!

I photographed a wedding a few weeks ago and the pictures turned out a lot better than I expected. The couple was happy with them. Happy couples = happy me.

I do my dishes by hand even though I have a dishwasher. It’s an older one and I don’t trust it. Plus, it smells weird.

    Great pictures by the way.

Now you can be in the Dishes By Hand club with ME!! I’ve been a card carrying member for two years now and I’m finally okay with it. :)

LOVE the pic of your daughter. She is a beauty!

Sometimes those are the best weeks, aren’t they? Not about the dishwasher but about everything else. I love when weeks are a blur because we’ve had so much fun.

Congrats on being nominated! I voted for you. I have definitely learned a lot from your blog. :-)

That picture of your daughter is wonderful! So glad that you had a nice break.
So very sorry about the dishes. I too am now doing dishes by hand for 7 people as my dishwasher also died last week. Oh how I feel your pain. :(

It’s tough coming back from vacation, isn’t it? You almost need a few days of transition back to real life! I love the colors in the background in the photo of your daughter! And she’s adorable too!

LOVE that picture of the train!

I know what you mean about the summer. I have been waiting and waiting for school to be out – so I would have some extra time – (I am a teacher) – but all of the things I held off on doing – need to be done now – and well – I am still on overload –

    What crazy lives we lead!

Love your blog, by the way!

Have I ever told you how much I love your header?

It’s quite a lot, if you were wondering.

Sorry to hear (read) about your dishwasher — but sometimes the memories more than compensate for the daily grind,
