My Daughter Cut Her Brother and Sister’s Hair!

Tuesday, March 9, 2010 by Lolli 34 Comments

I left the house for errands (Dad was home) and came home to one shaved boy and another soon-to be-seven-year-old missing about 3 inches of hair. And with newly cut bangs.

Big Sister's hair cuts

Her sister gave her a hair cut for her 7th birthday

Boy, does big sister have a lot of nerve.

And a pretty good hand at hair cutting. I would have been upset if she hadn’t have done such a cute job!

PS–it was my 13 year old daughter who cut the hair–not the daughter pictured. Just to clarify. :) And Dad was home and gave his permission.

I think it might be cheaper to take Gracie to the Hair Cuttery. You know….versus flying my daughter to UT to cut her hair. Although, I’m sure she wouldn’t complain one bit!

She is head and shoulders better than I am…can she come do Gracie’s hair? Because she neeeeeeeeds a haircut! :)

Dad said it was OK? That’s reason enough to never leave the kids alone with him again. :-)

Good thing they turned out so cute!

Holy moly! I’d like to know how much trouble DAD is in for giving Big Sister permission. Why do our husbands do stuff like that? lol On the plus side, the kids are adorable!

It was quite a shocker, but I rally do like the cuts! :)

  14. Lolli says

    Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 9:58 am

So am I!! I realize it could have been much, much worse. And, believe me, if the cuts hadn’t worked out, I would have been mad!

  15. Lolli says

    Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 9:57 am

Yep, Dad gave the ok! Funny thing is, I probably would have said yes, too, if I had been home. AND i would have been standing over her shoulder helping her the whole way. We do all of our haircuts at home, so she’s seen plenty of haircuts done. :)

  16. Lolli says

    Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 9:56 am

If she hadn’t done a good job, there would be hell to pay. Especially with Reese’s birthday coming tomorrow. Wouldn’t it just figure to have her hair butchered just before birthday pictures?

  17. Lori says

    Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 9:55 am

Ouch! That must have stung at first sight, but at least she did do a really go job. You have two adorable kiddos.

  18. Lolli says

    Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 9:55 am

No, she shaved his head. Now, we had talked about shaving his hair. His hair does not do well when it gets long. She did it a little shorter than I usually do it, but I have no problem with it. It will be long enough again in a week’s time!

  19. Lolli says

    Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 9:53 am

Haha! That’s what I was hoping people would think after reading the title. ;) Let them be surprised like I was!

  20. Lolli says

    Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 9:52 am

Yes, probably a good idea to talk about these kinds of things before they happen. ;)

  21. Lolli says

    Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 9:44 am

I was shocked, but realize it could have been a lot worse!

  22. Karie says

    Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 9:24 am

I don’t know who would have gotten more wrath….daughter for doing it or dad for saying yes. Glad the “cuts” all worked out.

  23. LZ says

    Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 8:31 am

Wait – Dad gave the ok? Even though it looks adorable, he’d get the silent treatment for days over a hair cut!!!

I’ve been busy today. In fact, I have just as much coming up, Busy, busy. As far as the hair, this same daughter cut her own hair when she was 4. And it has definitely happened since then. This time was different, though, because she actually did it on purpose, with Dad’s permission. It was just a big surprise to me.

My oldest (who is 13 now) found scissors at a friend’s house and cut her hair…bad! This time it was a completely different story. She cut their hair on purpose. It was just a surprise to me (she did check with Dad first though!)

LOL how funny is that! I visited your blog earlier and now you’re two new posts ahead. I just entered my Bloggography entry. Was busy today but I try not to miss the challenges.
As to the hair! Omigosh ~ it finally happened to your family! I must say I wouldn’t have noticed your daughter’s chopped hair ~ which means it was a decent haircut! It was tons worse when my own kid cut her own bangs! Rite of passage :)

I try to keep scissors hidden in my house for this very reason. My kids always end up giving each other hair cuts. At least you can just shave the boys! The girls are much more difficult to “fix” (although you daughter’s hair looks great. Lucky girl).
