On the last day of BlogHer09, I got an email from a blogging friend of mine, Kim, letting me know that she had entered the two of us in the Mabels Labels Wish You Were Here BlogHer 2010 contest. The contest was for a BlogHer 2009 attendee (ie–Kim) and a friend who was not able to make the conference (ie–me). Kim filmed a video saying why she would like to bring me along to next year’s blogging conference.
A few days later, I got another email from Kim, saying that we had made the top 10. I was very hopeful, but my expectations were low. I mean, this was a HUGE prize from an amazing company. What were the chances that I would win?
And then this morning, I found a message in my email box. All I saw was “Mabels Labels” and “Congratulations” and I instantly started shaking. Could it really be true?! It was. An all-expense paid trip to BlogHer. Whoa!
The day has been a whirlwind, with lots of congratulations on twitter and a very excited phone call with Kim.
My question now is: Can I handle the anticipation? I think, Yes. And, will the excitement wear off because I have a whole year to wait? I think, No.
