Captain Underpants and the Sensational Saga of Sir Stinks-a-Lot

Thursday, September 10, 2015 by Lolli 140 Comments

I’m excited to introduce my readers (and their kids!) to the newest Captain Underpants book, Captain Underpants and the Sensational Saga of Sir Stinks-a-Lot, by Dav Pilkey. Samples and prizing are provided by Scholastic. All thoughts are my own.

Captain Underpants new book and giveaway

Last night, I went to Back-to-School night at the high school, where 2 of my kids are students. Despite the fact that I am far from the perfect mom (just like my kids are not perfect kids), I have had success in the area of education (among other successes, of course!). My kids are fantastic students, and I credit a lot of that to an early foundation of reading that we established when the kids were all little.

When I would read to my kids, I wasn’t concerned with teaching them a skill, but I DID want to teach them a habit and I definitely wanted to teach them to have a love for reading.

Reading gives you super powers, after all.

My 10-year-old son was thrilled when a new Captain Underpants book came in the mail recently. Captain Underpants and the Sensational Saga of Sir Stinks-a-Lot is the 12th book in the Captain Underpants series. I admit…when my older son brought home his first Captain Underpants book from the library, I didn’t have the best first impression. But when I saw how much he (and then subsequent kids) loved the books, I changed my tune pretty quickly. They laugh. But most importantly, they reach for their books frequently because they WANT to read. That’s pretty cool in my book.

About Captain Underpants and the Sensational Saga of Sir Stinks-a-Lot

Captain Underpants cover

There’s something rotten in the state of Ohio, and it’s smellier than a pile of putrid gym socks! Steer clear–it’s Sir Stinks-A-Lot!

George, Harold, and their doubles, Yesterday George and Yesterday Harold, have a good thing going. Two of them go to school, while the other two hide in the tree house and play video games all day–then they switch! But when their malicious gym teacher, Mr. Meaner, creates a method of mind control that turns their fellow students into attentive, obedient, perfect children, the future of all humanity will be in their hands!

Captain Underpants and the Sensational Saga of Sir Stinks-a-Lot is in stores as of August 25. You can get it on Amazon here.

About the Captain Underpants series

Best friends George Beard and Harold Hutchins are the unofficial class clowns of fourth grade. There’s nothing they love more than making comic books about a silly superhero named Captain Underpants. But now they’ve accidentally transformed their mean school principal, Mr. Krupp, into Captain Underpants himself! Join George, Harold, and the Waistband Warrior as they fight for Truth, Justice, and all that is Pre-Shrunk and Cottony – and save the world, too!

About the Author, Dav Pilkey

When Dav Pilkey was a kid, he suffered from ADHD, dyslexia, and behavioral problems. Dav was so disruptive in class that his teachers made him sit out in the hall every day. Luckily, Dav loved to draw and make up stories, so he spent his time in the hallway creating his own original comic books.

In the second grade, Dav Pilkey created a comic book about a superhero named Captain Underpants. His teacher ripped it up and told him he couldn’t spend the rest of his life making silly books.

Fortunately, Dav was not a very good listener.

Dav continues to create books in the Pacific Northwest where he lives with his wife. Visit him online at www.pilkey.com.
