Crazy for pictures!

Thursday, April 3, 2008 by Lolli Leave a Comment

Ever since I photographed my friend, Wendy’s, wedding and then did a photo project for church, I have been obessessed with improving my photography skills. I invested in two new lenses, which have been TOO fun to experiment with (I sold the one that came with my camera). The result of all of this experimenting and stretching has been around 800 pictures this last month. I’ve got pictures coming out my ears! But I am loving it! Peanut Butter also brought home photoshop elements for me to try out some more advanced editing (I’ve only had a couple of days experience with that, but that’s been fun to try out, too). Anyway, here are just a few of my favorites.

Taco has always been ultra-sensitive, and can’t stand tight waistbands on his pants or necks on his shirts. We have always been easy on him when it comes to wearing a tie to church, but decided that he’s now old enough (he’ll be baptised next year!) that he needs to start practicing with a real tie. I caught these pictures as we were getting ready for church on Sunday.

I took this picture in the Fall, and loved how I caught Kiwi mid-air as she was jumping into a pile of leaves. But…I found the other kids in the picture a little distracting. Here’s the original shot:
And here’s my attempt at photoshopping it. Whee!
The other day, Apple was intent on helping me vacuum. I caught his picture as he cleaned the living room (shot without flash, by the light of the window). I love how his hands are in motion. I also love the willingness of preschoolers to help Mommy! I wish they wouldn’t lose that desire!

Apple takes after his Dad–he sticks his tongue out when he concentrates! I took this picture at the Resource Center during circle time. Apple refuses to sit at circle time lately, but he will play quietly at the playdough table and sing along quietly to himself (and sneek a peek at the books, too!)

Reese loves playing on the monkey bars and climbing structures at the park. Yesterday, some bigger kids were talking to a younger sister at the park, saying, “You can do it! Look–she’s little, and she climbed up here really fast.”

Apple loves climbing, too, but it’s hard to catch him being still. Oh, and he seems to be coming down with another cold. Gotta love the lick!
