Crock Pot Greek Chicken

Monday, April 22, 2013 by Lolli 6 Comments

I’ve had this crock pot recipe for years, but I haven’t pulled it out of the cupboard for quite a while. I love it because it’s so easy, uses just a few simple ingredients, and comes together beautifully.

Author: Lolli
Recipe type: Main
Cuisine: Crock Pot
Serves: 6-8
Ingredients
  • 4-6 potatoes
  • 3 lbs. chicken drumsticks
  • 2 Tablespoons crushed garlic
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
  1. Cut potatoes into bite sized pieces. Place in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. Add chicken on top of potatoes. Place onions and garlic on top and sprinkle with seasonings. Sprinkle with oil.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 9-10 hours or high for 5-6 hours.

Serve with steamed green beans.

Note: This chicken is so tender that the meat will literally fall off the bone. It’s juicy enough on it’s own, but it’s also delicious when you make gravy out of some of the juices in the crock pot. Yum!

Thanks so much. My friend and I zoomed into the photo yesterday and saw a bit of onion with the potatoes so figured it was a chopped onion. Can’t wait to make this for dinner tomorrow night.

I’m so sorry about that! I can’t believe the onions didn’t make it on the ingredients list (or that nobody else noticed that they were missing!) I’m adding them in now –

–> one large onion, chopped (I prefer to make my onion pieces a little bigger for this – about the same size across as the potato chunks)

The recipe says to put the garlic and onions on top of the chicken. There are no onions in the recipe. How many onions and how are they prepared? Thanks.
