I love to read. I always have. So many of my favorite childhood memories involve books, whether it was my mom reading out loud to me in the living room or I was all alone, propped up in bed with an extra pillow or two. Although this post is sponsored by SkinnyScoop, I have personally read a ton of the books in the widget below, and each of the strong female characters in each of those books is like a friend to me. As always, thoughts and opinions are my own.
Every girl needs a hero…don’t you agree? In a world with so many negative influences, I love that my daughters and I can turn to so many fabulous girls in literature (from picture books to 1000+ page novels) to find strong, courageous, feisty, caring, inventive girls to look up to.
My top 10 strong female characters
- Laura (Little House on the Prairie)
- Meg (A Wrinkle in Time)
- Elphaba (Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West)
- Lily (Snow Flower and the Secret Fan)
- Pippi (Pippi Longstocking)
- Sarah (Sarah, Plain and Tall)
- Another Sarah (These is my Words: The Diary of Sarah Agnes Prine)
