First Frost

Thursday, November 4, 2010 by Lolli 19 Comments

I woke up the other day, just like any other day, got the kids dressed, grabbed a jacket and some shoes, and walked the kids to school.

I couldn’t get back home fast enough. There was frost covering EVERYTHING, and I had to get back before the sun melted it away. Pictures! Macro, I kept thinking. Luckily, I was able to catch a few shots before the first frost was all but gone.

Pretty. Cold. Pretty cool.

We finally got the Winter clothes out of the attic (yes, this is after letting my son go to kindergarten wearing shorts and a heavy sweatshirt twice!) because it appears that Fall weather is officially here to stay. Until Winter shows up, of course.
How is the weather in your neck of the woods?

It’s time to link up with Photostory Friday and Give Me Your Best Shot. Link backs are always appreciated! My button has a habit of not copying well from WordPress, so if you have troubles, it’s not just you.

Happy November!

You are really making me want to put a macro lens on my Christmas list of Santa!

Whoa. We have not had frost yet, but there was sleet in the town 10 minutes away today – and I am in Georgia! Crazy weather down here, I tell ya! Your shots are great, and I’m glad you got them before the frost disappeared :)n Have a lovely weekend.

Frost?! I think we’re still a ways from frost in NC but these pictures make me wish for a little frost for the sake of photography. I wish for mid 70 degree temperatures!

My standards?? Don’t forget that I am a California girl. No matter what the “normal” temps are here, I will always be wishing for the 60s and 70s of Northern Cali. That’s where I am most comfortable.

I should have my tripod. It’s REALLY hard to get a clear macro shot, but I’ve done all the ones you’ve seen here hand-held. I have thrown out dozens and dozens of blurry, poorly focused shots, though. I’m sure it would be easier with a tripod, but then….how would I get so close to things?

That’s pretty crazy! Granted, we were wearing shorts comfortably last week. ;)

Unbelievable pictures! I am really envious of you macro setting. Those are amazing shots! And I can’t believe there’s frost by you! It’s supposed to get chilly here this weekend, but probably warm by your standards. ;-)

Love that second picture of the frost! So GORGEOUS!

I have to ask if you had to get out your tripod, or if you shot these without. I’ve heard macros can be tough to keep in focus without a tripod. :o)

Don’t feel bad. Some kids (and some moms (ahem….like me!!) like to hold out on the loose, summery clothes for as long as possible. I would rather be cold than to have to wear long, tight, restrictive clothes. Argh!

I am a California girl at heart and wear sandals and short sleeves as long as I can–everything else is too restrictive. So this is not my favorite time of year. :(

That is so beautiful. I can’t even stand it. Ummmmmmmmmmmm, Kaish is still wearing shorts to school. He hates pants. I feel like the WORST mother in America Lolli!

WOW! Doesn’t seem right that it should be that cold already…They’re calling for it to be 31 here this weekend though so I guess its coming our way….
