Apparently, I am a member of the “finding perfect excuses for not getting fit” club. I am not a couch potato, and I am not extremely over-weight, but I could stand to lose a few more pounds and I frequently find myself getting out-of-breath after less-than-strenuous activity. I need to exercise (!!!) but I always seem to have an excuse. Whether it’s the excuse of not wanting to pay for child care to work out a a gym (not to mention the gym membership itself), or not wanting to wake up early enough to beat the kids awake, or the weather….there’s always something stopping me.
And yet I know how much better I feel when I do exercise. So why is it so hard?
There have been several times when I have gotten into a great exercising routine. But inevitably, an illness (either my own or one of the kids) will throw me off my schedule, and I will lose my momentum.
Right now, I can’t imagine fitting it into my day, each day. And once again the “AND YET…” pops into my head. “And yet you would have more energy to get more done during the time that you have each day,” I tell myself. It’s a constant fight I have with myself.
I’m glad I’m not alone. There are other people making excuses just like me. I found an article on www.wellnessdaily.com, a website sponsored by Jenni-O Turkey called Four Common Excuses Not to Get Fit. Which excuse are you using? Or are you doing better than I am and fitting that fitness program in?
I spent some time browsing around www.wellnessdaily.com and found recipes, fitness tips, coupons to print, and tricks for losing weight. It was a wealth of information! I signed up for free by simply connecting with my Facebook account. I am looking forward to having a little buzz in my ear motivating me to exercise. After all, I need to look my best when I teach at the Casual Bloggers Conference in May, right?
(PS–if you are anywhere near Utah, PLEASE consider coming to hear me and other much more interesting bloggers speak and teach!)
Now, for the fun part: For a chance to win a WellnessDaily.com prize package which include coupons for a year-long supply of Jennie-O Turkey Store products and a one-year gym membership, valued at $1,250…. simply join www.wellnessdaily.com, sign up and tweet the following message:

Yikes, and here I am whining about 200 subscribers ;) That really stinks. I am glad I made the switch but I hope that I can build back up my readers. I really enjoy your blog & hope to start participating in some of your picture memes. I am taking a digital photography course in March!!

I wish I could tell you some good news. The sad news is that I had about 1200 subscribers before the switch, and went down to about 100. I’ve slowly worked myself up to 200+ but I swear I feel like I’m not making much progress!
Chrissy MacCEO says
Thanks, Lolli! What did you do to get your subscribers back? As a relatively new blogger, this was so frustrating to me because I finally had 200+ subscribers and then now I feel like I am back to square one!

I have often wished I had some exercise equipment at home, but the truth is my situation would probably be the same. ;)

I’m your age, and I fear that I’d have the same results. I wish I had a Wii!

Oh boy! Your post title makes me think of the days when I tried to exercise in my basement with little kids. They’d try to join in with me and end up getting all twisted up. And then I wouldn’t get a real work out, because I’d spend half my time avoiding stepping on kids.
Lolli says
OK–that’s pretty funny, if you ask me! It just proves that anybody can have an excuse! :)

I lost almost all of my subscribers when I switched to WP, too. So frustrating! I paid you a visit today. :)

I’ve been using the FMA/It HURTS excuse for way too long. We just got a HUGELY reduced scratch and dent elliptical and I swear it looks at me. So I have to start using it. Sigh.

I have the same problem. We got a Wii and Wii Fit Plus for Christmas and it took me over a month to set up the fit board…which then told me I had the body of a 51 year old. I’m 36! Oh yeah, and we have a YMCA membership that I only use for the kids activities :( While I’m not overweight, I do feel that being fit is important to my life and to making me a better role model for my kids. I just never seem to quite get moving (or stay moving). And, I think it’s even easier to make excuses when you are not overweight.
Thanks for the info. I’ll check out the site. And thanks for stopping by my blog today :)

LOL I know exactly how you feel! I dont have an excuse and I should really come up with one. Here’s the kicker…..I WORK at a health club in the child care room, I get to take my kids there when ever I want and I get a free membership for working there……Pathetic right?!

Wow! Thanks for sharing. I am certainly apart of this “club” too! LOL!
I don’t know if you got my email or not, but I lost all of my followers when I switched to WP this weekend–my feed was dropped from their readers! Can you re-subscribe to my blog when you have a minute? THANKS :) http://www.lifeasaceo.com
