Flag Football Season – PSF GMYBS

Thursday, November 10, 2011 by Lolli 9 Comments

I’m going to admit something to you today….I don’t love sitting at kids’ sports games.

Yes, I love being able to offer my kids opportunities and team sports are a fantastic way to teach kids cooperation, skills, and fitness. However….

I just don’t love the demand that team sports are on the family. I do realize that my challenge with the current situation could have something to do with the fact that 3 nights out of the week and all day Saturday are taken up with practices and games.

I miss being able to sleep in on Saturday mornings. The good news, though? The season is over next week….

I’ll stop complaining now and show off some pictures of Twizzler’s team at last weekend’s game. He’s #5 and he’s the fastest player on the defense. Yes, I can dislike sports and still be terribly proud of my son…

How do you feel about team sports? Love them or hate them?

I like watching most sports, whether kids, college or professional. A great way to get out with other families and enjoy time that would probably spent cleaning the house or other chores!

Our team sports haven’t taken up that much time yet, so I’m okay with them. Once they get to the point of being gone every night of the week, I’m sure I’ll change my tune. :)

    Great shots!

I had the same coversationas with a friend a few weeks ago. I feel the same as you. I resent the fact that the burden is put on me whenever I sign the kids up for activities. I’m the one driving all over, sitting there, trying to entertain a toddler while the girls are doing whatever. And forget sports! There’s never any other room for anything else, like being a kid or homework. I think coaches and parentsI take kids sports way too seriously to make them practice three times a week plus a game. That’s way too much of a commitment for me However, my friend felt the benefits of sports out weighed the aggravation. I don’t get it. I’m not raising athletes. I’m trying raise well-balanced, well-adjusted kids.

We just started with sports this year. My oldest played soccer and I enjoyed watching most of the time. I can imagine it would get old though if I had to watch as much as you do!

I am right there with you!
LOVE that my kids enjoy themselves but sheesh, I am SO tired of the football games. ugh
(and, of course, heading right into basketball, winter track, wrestling, swimming and school play! ack!)
