Is it just me, or has Halloween crept up on us this year? Usually, the kids have all of their Halloween costumes picked out long before the middle of the month, I’ve already baked several pumpkin treats by now, and our front porch is decorated with several hand-carved or painted jack-o-lanterns. Apparently, I’m a little behind on my Halloween this season! Thanks to TruMoo for putting me back on track this Halloween and for sponsoring our costume shopping. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The younger kids and I made a trip this past week to do some costume shopping and I’m feeling much more ready for the holiday. I even got some accessories and Halloween make-up for my teens (since their costume needs have changed!). And to make my Halloween-prep even more on-target, I’ve got some incredible Halloween recipes to share PLUS some Spooktakular sweepstakes that you’ve got to check out before they disappear! Keep reading to find out the details!
For those of you with older kids, you can sympathize with the challenge of finding the perfect Halloween costume for the tween crowd. They don’t want any cutesy characters anymore, but you want to find something age-appropriate. We scoured the shelves at our local Target until we found the perfect combinations for the 9- and 11-year-olds. Lucky for us, Target had an amazing BOGO sale going on while we were there – Bonus!
Reese is thrilled with her black, green and pink witch costume (can you tell that it brings out her spunky personality?).
AJ was not in the mood to put his cowboy costume on for pictures, but we all agreed that the long coat that came with his costume was the coolest thing ever.
Get in the Halloween Spirit with TruMoo Orange Scream milk
Have you spotted TruMoo’s ghoulishly fun Limited Edition TruMoo Orange Scream milk this Halloween season? TruMoo Orange Scream is inspired by an orange frozen pop with vanilla ice cream – seriously one of my favorite flavor combinations ever. TruMoo milk is always made with wholesome low-fat white milk, no artificial growth hormones or high fructose corn syrup, so it’s not only a fun and tasty treat to serve…it’s one you can feel good about, too.
Of course, TruMoo Orange Scream would be delicious right out of the carton, but I’ve got 2 recipes to share that might just make it even better. Personally, I am drooling over the Paranormal Pudding…
Paranormal Pudding
Servings: 2
Ingredients:
- 2 cups TruMoo Orange Scream milk
- 1 (3.4-ounce) box instant vanilla pudding and pie filling
- 1/2 cup low-fat granola
- 2 tablespoons low-fat plain Greek yogurt
- Multicolored sprinkles
Directions:
- In large bowl, with wire whisk beat milk and instant pudding until well blended and thickened.
- Spoon 1/3 of pudding mixture into two dessert or parfait glasses; sprinkle with some granola. Repeat layering two more times. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
- To serve, top each with dollop of yogurt and Halloween-themed sprinkles.
Monster Mash Float
Servings: 1
Ingredients:
- 1 cup TruMoo Orange Scream milk
- 1 large scoop low-fat vanilla frozen yogurt or ice cream
- 1 cup chilled seltzer
Directions:
In tall glass, pour in milk. Add scoop of frozen yogurt. Slowly add seltzer to create foamy, web-like effect on top of float.
Serve immediately.
