It should come as no surprise that my life as a work-from-home mom of five kids keeps me pretty busy. I’m either typing away at my computer for long stretches of time or running kids around to afternoon activities and practices. It’s important to stay energized and fueled throughout the day…and although I might like to grab some candy or a soda when hunger strikes, I know that’s not the best choice.
I’ve always been a fan of cheese and find that when I reach for a pick-me-up snack like cheese and fruit, the boost I get lasts quite a bit longer and I don’t feel quite so guilty about snacking, either!
Life is more about staying fueled, though (although I do admit food brings me lots of joy and happiness!). I love the My Life Ingredients movement with Alpine Lace®. When I posted this RDA for a happy, active life on my Facebook page the other day, it got a ton of response. Several people recommended that I put this on a t-shirt or inspirational poster!
Make your own RDA for a happy life
For MY ideal happy life, I need a daily dose of chocolate (the good kind), plenty of sleep (which doesn’t happen often enough), and lots of hugs from my kids. What would you add to YOUR My Life Ingredients RDA? You can make your own here. Be sure to tag Better in Bulk on Facebook so I can see your personal RDA for life!
OK, back to my delicious snack or appetizer recipe. These ham and cheese pinwheels come together in just 5 minutes but fill you for much longer. Thinly sliced Alpine Lace® reduced fat deli cheese is PERFECT for making these pinwheels (I think I could eat a few dozen of these!). They came with high praise from my family members when I made a few in the middle of the day today. It curbed everyone’s afternoon hunger.
How to make the perfect Ham and Swiss Cheese Pinwheels
Ingredients:
- Tortilla wraps (we used tomato basil wraps)
- Thinly sliced Alpine Lace® Swiss reduced fat deli cheese
- Deli sliced ham
- Honey mustard dipping sauce
- Toothpicks
Directions:
- Lay sliced ham and sliced Alpine Lace® Swiss reduced fat deli cheese on a tortilla wrap (the amount of ham and cheese you use will vary depending on the size of the slices as well as the size of the wraps).
- Drizzle or spread a small amount of honey mustard sauce across the middle (don’t put too much, or the honey mustard will drizzle out the end)
- Wrap the tortilla up tightly and secure with toothpicks, each about an inch apart.
- Using a serrated knife, slice the tortilla wrap in between each toothpick. Serve and enjoy!
