I Need to Think Fishfully Now….

Monday, June 1, 2009 by Lolli Leave a Comment

In case any of you don’t know already, I am an Ambassador for the Pepperidge Farms Fishful Thinking campaign. I have loved sharing the message of optimism, resilience, goal setting, emotional awareness, and empowerment–the key ingredients of Fishful Thinking. But I feel like my paticipation in this program was all for my benefit and not for those who I have shared the message with.

The fact is, two things have pulled me through this very difficult year–divine assistance (it can’t be anything but a string of miracles that have gotten us this far) and positive thinking (back again to those core values–optimism, resilience, goal setting, emotional awareness, and empowerment).

Yesterday, I felt like what was happening to my house was more than I could handle. Today, my situation is far from being better. In fact, it’s slightly worse because no one but my insurance company has called me back. I am highly disappointed in the government agencies that were supposed to be helping me in this situation. All I have gotten are answering machines. I guess I shouldn’t have expected the Dept of Whatever to be as responsive as Fire and Rescue–my dear volunteers.

But a new and wonderful friend of mine talked with me last night and I was reminded that I am not the only one suffering right now. There are people all around me who have it much worse than I do. That simple remider has made so much of a difference.

Today, I am thinking Fishfully. I might have a few weeks or an entire summer of hassle. Hours of phone calls, fights with banks and insurance companies, the headache of documentation, the extremem risk of our health. I might have to move out of my house. But I will not lose what is most important. We are going to be ok.

Our friends have stepped in to help. Fans and dehumidifiers have been brought over. Lunch was dropped off. Kids have been invited for play dates. We’ve been invited over for dinner tonight. We are taken care of.

I have taken more time away from my cleaning than I should have….Thanks for all of your thoughts and kind comments. It means so much!

Now a favor….will you click on this the storybook maker? You can stay and make a free storybook and enter the $10,000 scholarship giveaway, or you can do nothing after you click. There’s no obligation (and I still get points for the clicks). Thank you!
