I’d Rather Grow Old Poor

My Little Life

Five Question Friday Questions for 1/22/10: (Thanks to Casia, the Unkept Cook, Renee, Liz, and Kate for their question suggestions!)

1. What is better, growing old with out money or dying young and wealthy?

I would definitely rather grow old without money than die young with money. I have proved in this last year that it IS possible to be happy AND penniless at the same time. Seriously, I never would have guessed that I could be as content as I am right now with all of the money stresses that we are currently dealing with. I have my family, my friends, and I am alive and healthy. Most days. Some days are hard, I admit. But I am living and loving life. Bring it on.

2. Who takes out the garbage at your house?

That’s a good question. CandyMan, Twizzler, and I split this job. I typically gather garbage from the rest of the house and add it to the big garbage. The boys help bring the big garbage from the back to the front on garbage day. I am an unhappy Mommy when garbage day comes and my boys are both gone and I am left to lug that can out front.

3. Have you ever had the same dream many times?

I used to have recurring dreams a lot. In fact, I had the same dream every time I slept with a humidifier when I was a kid. It was terrifying, and I can still picture the scene. I was in a field of golden wheat. I was surrounded by wheat as far as I could see. The only other things in my field of view were an old shed and a huge, craggly tree. And then I heard my name being called. Moaned. “Looooooollllli! Loooooolllli!” Turning, I saw an old man with a scythe looking for me in the field of wheat. And I would run. I would wake to the same moaning sound. It was the humidifier.

4. Can you play a musical instrument?

I took piano lessons from about age 7 to 14. Then I took a year or so of guitar lessons. I can read music well, but I’m not a great musician.

5. If you owned your own store, what would you sell?

If I decided to open my own store, it would be a toss-up between opening a consignment store and a camera shop. I’d love to have the photography inventory, but I think I’d probably be better at doing children’s consignment. I love finding treasures that other people have discarded.

……And now one last tidbit. The (Un)Experienced Mom hosts Fill in the Blank Friday and I thought I’d play along.

The movie I could watch over and over again is ____________.

Several movies came to mind for this one. Fiddler on the Roof. The Sound of Music. Ever After.

How would you fill in this blank?

Sound of Music is a great movie, isn't it? Can you believe I have never seen Fiddler on the Roof? ;-) Thanks so much for playing!

You've Got Mail, While You Were Sleeping, and Return To Me (although I do fast forward the first 20 minutes…too sad.) I love The Sound of Music too. :)
