I’m Married To Hugh Grant

Saturday, September 25, 2010 by Lolli 24 Comments

GoateeIt’s hard for me to watch Hugh Grant movies. They are almost always romances, and it just feels awkward to see my husband up there on the screen with other women. I am married to Hugh Grant.

OK….maybe not technically. But close.

Jealous?

Last night, while folding laundry and watching a Hugh Grant movie, CandyMan finally admitted that he could see what everyone has been saying for years. He looks like Hugh Grant (and Ben Affleck, too….but that’s another post). People have stopped him on the street and told him that he looks like the famous actor, and yet he has consistently denied the resemblance.

hugh grant

I’ve always thought it was funny that he couldn’t see himself in Hugh. I see it, not only in the shape of his face (particularly his eyes) but in the way they both move. Actually, the mannerisms make the resemblance even stronger. Yes, this could be my husband:

In fact, I had the kids giggling in front of the computer this morning as I showed them these video clips. Even they can see it looks like Daddy.

Me? I’ve always looked like Shirley Temple and Judy Garland. Who do you look like?

Oh, there is a lot of Ben Affleck in your husband’s visage. Lucky, LUCKY you.

For the record, that video from “Music and Lyrics” is one of my favorite pieces of media of all time. I think I’ll watch it again right now. Priceless.

(Coming over from 3 Moms in One. :-)

I can totally see you looking like Brooke and Kate….not Sarah Jessica Parker so much. ;)

I can totally see Natalie Wood in your picture!

That is incredible! I’ve been told that I look like Elizabeth Shue, too! I’d love to compare pictures of the two couples, side by side, to see if any of us look like each other! LOL

Between my movie star husband and my own blogging fame, we have to wear disguises when we go out together. It can be rough. LOL!

You’ll have to do one of those celebrity look alike programs online to see which movie stars you look like. It’s kind of fun! ;)

Do people say that you look like someone you don’t like? That would stink. How funny about your husband and Al Gore!

It’s the mannerisms that get me more than anything! How fun that your dad looked like Harrison Ford!

How funny. I can see the resemblence but I think he looks more like Ben Affleck. You could really play this one up on the street…LOL

My Dad looked like Harrison Ford. When we saw Harrison Ford being interviewed on Oprah we could’t believe that they even had the same mannerisms…… too funny.

I’ve had people say, “You look like so and so ” – and then I just want to cry – so when people try that with me, I just walk away (well, I want to) – however, during the 2000 election – people would go up to my husband while shopping or even at McDonalds and think he was Al Gore – not that was before Gore got that crazed, swine-kind of look in his eyes – LOL!
I would rather he looked like Hugh Grant – just not vacillating like his characters are:)

Hmmm…. I’ve been told that I remind random people of other people in their lives, but never a movie star. Boring!! Lovely that your hubby looks like Hugh — and he really does! Stopping by from SITS.

With a movie-star husband like that, I hope that you avoid the paparazzi all around town. ;-)

And I’ve been told that I look like Dido. I *may* see a resemblance in that… but now I’m wishing I had her life. Or her voice. Well, maybe both.

Hugh’s a hottie! Lucky girl, you are!

My man looks like Ben Affleck, also. (well, more so when he had more hair, LOL)
In my skinnier/longer hair days I was told, often, I looked like Nicole Kidman!!! But mostly now I hear, Elizabeth Shue. I’m still totally flattered!

I see it, especially Ben Affleck. Funny! Here’s an old post of mine about who I resemble…I can’t tell you who. It would give it away.

He does resemble Hugh Grant A LOT! I’ve been told a mix between Brittney Murphey (so sad she’s gone) and meg Ryan, but I don’t see it.

It’s hard to find a picture that looks exactly right. Like I said, it’s in the mannerisms and the silly looks they do. And those are hard to capture on camera.
