Invisalign Teen “Make Me Smile” Challenge

Monday, November 1, 2010 by Lolli 7 Comments

When my babies got their first tiny baby teeth, they were nothing short of perfect. Little, white (sharp!), perfect little teeth. And then they got another and another and it became clear that the teeth might not be lining up quite right.. There were spaces where there should be none and over-laps where there should be spaces.

As a mother of young children, I held out hope that my girls’ baby teeth would be replaced by beautifully straight adult teeth. Sadly, that didn’t happen, either. KitKat had baby teeth that refused to come out on their own, and adult teeth that decided to come in anyway. Necco’s space between her two front teeth doesn’t look like it’s going to be closing on it’s own.

Last month, KitKat was lucky enough to be picked as the winner of the Blogalicious Invisalign Teen contest. She is getting ready to start her Invisalign treatment, and though she’s nervous about the pain and the way she might look while she’s wearing her “invisible braces,” she is incredibly excited about how her teeth are going to look.

As we’ve been doing some research about Invisalign to prepare for her treatment, we’ve discovered some wonderful things about it. Like traditional braces, Invisalign Teen effectively straightens teeth, but because of the clear, near-invisibility of the braces, treatment is very inconspicuous. It is easy for teens to continue their favorite activities such as playing sports and musical instruments – activities that can be challenging or uncomfortable with traditional metal braces. It’s removable (love that!). Since teens can take the aligners out to brush and floss, they can maintain normal, healthy hygiene during treatment.

Most importantly, it works.

Make me smile challenge

Currently, Invisalign Teen is running the Make Me Smile Challenge. They are challenging teens to submit 30 second videos that will make their judges smile (judges happen to be the very popular BooBoo and Fivel Stweart). The Grand Prize winner will receive the Ultimate Hollywood Experience including:

* Airfare for 2
* Limo transportation for 2
* $5,000 shopping spree on Rodeo Drive
* Hotel in Beverly Hills for 2
* Lunch at the Ivy for 2
* Backlot studio tour for 2

Plus, three monthly winners will win an Apple iPad™, pre-loaded with the latest Hollywood flicks!

I know a few teens (and maybe a mom or two) who would love that prize!

So, if you were to make a 30 second video to make someone laugh, what would you do?

    Great compo! The best thing about Invisalign Teen is the confidence it gives to those wearing the clear aligners. No-one need know your even wearing them! :)

    Invisalign Teen can straighten your child’s teeth without the hassle, discomfort, and embarrassment of traditional braces. Even young stars such as Justin Bieber are wearing Invisalign Teen. The ‘make me smile challenge’ is a wonderful idea.

    I’m so happy for KitKat that she gets to do the treatment! I wish I could do it for myself!

    It feels like your gums and teeth are black and blue for the first 2 days of every set of aligners (I got a new set every 2 weeks). Ibuprofen worked to make it feel better.

    She might need some wax because of the brackets they use, but it’s nothing a milkshake can’t fix :)

    That’s cool to know! I’m excited to get her started. How much did they hurt, though? I never did have braces, so I can’t tell her my experience!

    I LOVED my Invisalign! My teeth actually became healthier because I flossed so much more, knowing that I was putting the aligners back on after eating.

    Good luck, KitKat!
