It’s All About the Chocolate….I Mean the Kids

Monday, August 3, 2009 by Lolli Leave a Comment

I learned a few things this last week:

1 – The restrooms at Hershey Park are nicely air conditioned.

We had to make our first potty stop at Hershey Park before we got on our first ride. AJ’s bladder was particularly small last Monday when we were at the amusement park. When I walked into that first restroom, I over heard another mom say, “Wow! It feels great in here. I might have to spend all day in the bathroom.”

I had no idea at the time that she was speaking my fate. Between the 6 kids and 3 adults, we were running to the restroom a few times an hour.

At least they were cool.

3 – Don’t expect to ride the big kid rides.

I’m really not much of a roller coaster fan, anyway. My only request was to take a spin on the log ride. After that, I was good to hang out at the kiddie rides. Standing at the exit might not be quite as exciting as getting on the rides myself, but there’s still magic in watching the thrill and joy on kids’ faces.

4 – Sleeping in a double bed with a restless 8 year old does not make for a sound night sleep.

Kids sleep much better after a day at the amusement park versus a day driving in the car. So do parents.

5 – Getting back into a routine after just a week away is tough. My house is a mess, but the vacation did me good.

I am off now to see my mom for the last time before she leaves the area (she’s been at my sister’s house since Saturday). I have SO much more to blog about, but in the mean time, here are some shots form our day at Hershey Park.

Haha! I guess I learned a few things but forgot how to count. Apparently, in copying and pasting the points up there number 2 got lost. It’s gone for good now. I have no idea what brilliant thing I said in #2. As Grandma would have said, “Must have been a lie!”
