milestones (does this make me old?)

Today was a big day for me. At Church at least. Today was KitKat’s first day in Young Women’s and AJ’s last day in nursery. Next week he’s a BIG Sunbeam in the BIG KIDS’ Primary. Sadly, he only made it through half of his last day of nursery because he was having a break down in class. Out of all of my kids, he is the only one to still need a nap everyday. He falls asleep almost every week at church. When he doesn’t fall asleep, he gets cranky. And agressive. Thank goodness that next week we start meeting at 9:00am instead of 1:00pm. 1:00 is just a monster of a time for kids.

So today, after he was sent out of class, he just wanted to be held. He might not be huge, but he’s still 3 1/2, and my arms were aching. I ended up retrieving the mei tai from the car (it’s been so long since I’ve carried him in that!) and he took a full hour nap on my back. My feet were so sore after carrying him around for an hour, but it was worth it.

Back to KitKat…..she was SO happy after going to her new Young Women’s class. She fits in well. (maybe too well sometimes). Tonight she gave me a little green book…..Guidebook for Parents and leaders of YOUTH. Yikes. I’m a parent of a youth. Not a little kid. A big, giggling, hair-curling, nail-painting, boy-liking, pre-teen Youth.

So my youngest is not a baby anymore, and my oldest is not a kid anymore. I guess this means I’m not a young mother anymore, either. Now I have a teeny tiny glimpse into how my mom felt when I (her oldest) went off to college the same year my youngest sister started kindergarten.
