Mother’s Day Wish List – Fine Jewelry Window Shopping #CBias

Sunday, March 18, 2012 by Lolli Leave a Comment

Besides my wedding ring, the only pieces of fine jewelry that I own are a Wedgewood necklace I got in England in the mid 1990s, a single pearl necklace that CandyMan window shopping for jewelrybought me for Mother’s Day many years ago (I am hoping that it’s just misplaced and not REALLY lost), and a five-diamond anniversary band that I picked out and bought myself with inheritance money from my Grandma.

While I am typically not a big spender on jewelry, I LOVE to window shop, dream, and create wish lists for that someday when I can afford all of the jewelry that I find and love.

Window Shopping…for jewelry!

Interestingly, window shopping for jewelry has become something that my mother in law and I love to do together. We end up checking out jewelry counters whenever we’re together, whether we’re at a local mall or a vendor in Costa Rica.

Since my mother in law is in Florida and I’m in Maryland, I took my oldest daughter, KitKat, with me this weekend to help me with my window shopping. This was not ordinary window shopping trip. This time, I had an assignment: browse the jewelry at Bloomingdale’s (paying particular attention to the Charriol line), and come up with a Mother’s Day Wish List of gifts for myself, my mother in law, and my own mom.

KitKat and I set out to Bloomingdale’s in beautiful but busy Chevy Chase, Maryland. Chevy Chase is definitely a classier place than where we’re living right now, and I felt the change in atmosphere as soon as I walked through the doors of Bloomingdale’s.

We looked through every case in Fine Jewelry, starting with Charriol. My favorite piece in the store was a necklace from Charriol – something I hope to be able to afford some day (I’m still working on being able to afford milk and eggs…).

The selection in the store was rather limited (and believe me, it was not because the store was small!) and so I did resort to finding extra ideas on CharriolUSA.com. I love my mother in law’s collection of fancy bracelets, so I was drawn to one particular bracelet…

My mom is a little more difficult because she doesn’t wear much jewelry. I opted for something classy and timeless, and pretty unobtrusive.

Here’s what my Mother’s Day wish list looks like:

Some additional Mother’s Day Gift ideas (that would work for any of the women in my family):

  • A gift certificate to a day spa or pedicure is always appreciated (and it’s a style that fits everyone!)
  • Flowers – timeless and beautiful
  • Dinner out at a nice restaurant
  • A book (or better yet, a gift card to Amazon)
  • An over-night hotel stay on her own
  • House cleaners (having someone else do your dirty work has got to be one of the best feelings ever. Not that I’d know…)
  • Chocolate (it’s a one-size fits all perfect gift)

What’s on YOUR Mother’s Day Wish List?
