KitKat had her 12th birthday party last night. Four of her friends came over for pizza, lots of junk food (including midnight s’mores that I joined them for), cake & ice cream, and oodles of giggles. Two of the girls stayed over for the night. It’s a wonder I’m alive today. I haven’t heard so much giggling and screaming since I was 12. 12-year-old girls don’t play games at parties. They eat and they talk and they giggle.
PeanutButter took the rest of the kids out for a night full of fun and games at Chuck E. Cheese (the ultimate kids’ destination!).
PB was “supposed to” take the boys camping last night, but he was not really excited about sleeping outside in 30 degrees. So he offered to take Twizzler to Chuck E Cheese instead. It takes a really special offer for a 7-year-old boy to give up a camping trip. Twizzler was generous enough to “let” the girls come along, too. They had a blast.
Meanwhile, I was at home listening to GIGGLING pre-teens. While I was serving pizza, I heard the greatest quote of the night:
H: “So, you know how at lunch, there are the Geeks, and the Preps, and the Populars, and the Frenchies (they have a French immersion program at their school)? I was wondering–WHAT ARE WE?”
B: “I don’t know. Good question.”
M: “I think we’re a little bit of everything.”
K: “I don’t know about you, but I’m not Frenchie at all!”
H: “Yeah, we’re more like International.”
In a few weeks, I guarantee that KitKat will start planning next year’s party. *sigh*
