Quotable Sunday–Faith

Sunday, March 15, 2009 by Lolli Leave a Comment

Each week, I pick a topic that is on my mind at the time to find quotes on. All week long, I have been thinking about Faith. All I can say is that this was a very humbling and inspiring exercise to go through so many incredible quotes–mini sermons almost–that seemed to be written just for me. I think I may have to print some of these out and hang them up in my house! :)

Faith

I know God will not give me anything I can’t handle. I just wish He didn’t trust me so much.
~Mother Theresa

When you have come to the edge Of all light that you know And are about to drop off into the darkness Of the unknown, Faith is knowing One of two things will happen: There will be something solid to stand on or You will be taught to fly
~Patrick Overton

Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.
~Martin Luther King, Jr.

Faith is believing in things when common sense tells you not to.
~Unknown

The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference. The opposite of art is not ugliness, it’s indifference. The opposite of faith is not heresy, it’s indifference. And the opposite of life is not death, it’s indifference.
~Elie Wiesel

There is nothing that wastes the body like worry, and one who has any faith in God should be ashamed to worry about anything whatsoever.
~Mahatma Ghandi

Faith is not trying to believe something regardless of the evidence; faith is daring something regardless of the consequences.
~Sherwood Eddy

Faith isn’t faith until it’s all you’re holding on to.
~Unknown

Faith is the art of holding on to things your reason has once accepted in spite of your changing moods.
~C.S. Lewis

Living without faith is like driving in a fog.
~Proverb

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
~Reinhold Niebuhr

Faith is like electricity. You can’t see it, but you can see the light.
~Unknown

You block your dream when you allow your fear to grow bigger than your faith.
~Mary Manin Morrissey
