Rain, Rain, Go Away!

There is something about a week of rain in the Fall that makes me want to change into sweats and read a good book in bed.

I love the rain. I love listening to the rain through an open window, and I love how it brings everything to life. Except for me. Rain seems to take away my motivation and makes me move in slow motion. Luckily, the rain let up just enough today for me to take my camera out to the yard and take some pictures of the wet but vibrant flowers.

And then, turning the corner, I met up with a squirrel with a nut and an abundance of attitude. He posed for me for a few minutes while I snapped away. As soon as I lowered my camera, he began letting me have it. I’ve never heard a squirrel squalk so much. I really felt like he was chewing me out for having the nerve to take his photos.

Back in the house, I found three of the kids busy reading. Apparently, the urge to be lazy and curl up with a good book is not unique to me.

Love the photo of him reading….. LOVE to see kids reading! The squirrel story is funny — great captures of him as well. And your flowers are fantastic, especially the single yellow one!

I feel the same exact way! Now can somebody tell my kids that I’ve gone to bed with a book and they are on their own for dinner?? :)

I always think of Autumn in two distinct color schemes — The golds, scarlets, lemons and rust of the hills and the meadows on one hand, grays and blacks and whites of the autumn rain on the other.

    And I love them both.

I like to take a nap too! Tomorrow, I have a huge list of things to do in the morning, but I am really hoping for a nap in the afternoon.

I’m glad it’s not just me! Did I mention that I went back to sleep after the kids went to school today? It was lovely to be in bed and not have anyone trying to pull me out!

I’m with you! Rainy days make me feel like reading to the boys for a while, and letting them watch a movie while I curl up with a book and a cup of mint hot chocolate (and maybe some pumpkin chocolate chip cookies-yum!).

Those flowers look so refreshed after the rain. My favorite thing to do is watch a movie with my 2 year old, with a big cup of coffee for me and some chocolate milk for him.

    Love the pics!
