Santa Really IS Watching…..a Give Me Your Best Shot

Thursday, December 10, 2009 by Lolli 20 Comments

My Christmas present came in the mail yesterday. I am itching to test it a little more, but today was filled with Christmas shopping–my first trip out, believe it or not.

What came in the mail, you ask? The Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Macro lens. Amazing stuff. I happened on an incredible deal on a used lens and I just happened to have been paid for 2 photo shots that day. I snatched it up and called it my Christmas present. I took a few test shots with the new lens of one of my all-time favorite subjects:

Christmas light bokeh.

I did quite a bit of it last year and even (gasp!) got featured on Pioneer Woman’s site.

Angel Christmas Light Bokeh 1

I just love the way the Christmas lights look, blurred in the background.

I also thought I’d share a fun picture I took after this week’s visit to see Santa. There are signs all over the place kindly requesting that you don’t use your own camera while visiting Santa. Such a bummer! So instead, we exited Santa’s workshop area and took a picture of the scenery. AJ is blown out and blurry here, but there’s an element in this picture that makes it an all-time classic.

Can you see it?

Santa Spotting

Here’s the zoomed-in version:

Santa is watching

Here, I thought I was being sneaky. And Santa was watching me the whole time.

Thank goodness I already got my lens, or else I might worry that I’d be put on Santa’s naughty list.

Or maybe he was just being a good sport and saying cheese for the camera. It has left me with an odd feeling that someone really is watching me.

What have you been photographing this week? Have you tried anything new? Read to find out more about Give Me Your Best Shot….And come back to leave the link to your best shot below (please link to your actual Give Me Your Best Shot post). And grab my button below or link to me so that we can get more people to stop by!

PS–if this is your first visit here this week, did you notice that I finally made that move to WordPress? So far it has been a smooth move except for the fact that this morning I woke up missing about 1000 subscribers. So if you do subscribe or have me in a blog roll, check to make sure you’ve got my new address, https://foodfunfamily.com/ updated. And while you’re here, take a look around the site. The look is generally the same, but there are a few new features that are pretty cool. I’m enjoying it!

Hi! I re-fed your feed and your blog is still not updating in my bloglist. How has the move gone for you? I like the changes but I really wish that you would show at least 1 or 2 more full posts before it goes into the small boxes. It takes a catchy title to make me actually click on one of those. Just thought I would let you know…:-)

Such an amazingly clean look to your new site! I just love it, Laura. Really glad to read that you are happy with the changes too.

Two things that shocked me with this post:
    1) You lost all your subscribers. Ugh. SO sorry.
    2) You were featured on Pioneer Woman.

    Wow!! I had no idea.

So sorry about the buttons and the linky! I have no idea what happened to Mcklinky–it was supposed to be live! It appears to be working now and I’ll add your info. As far as the button, it’s a WordPress thing. I didn’t realize I would have to change the button for it. Ugh! It is changed now, and hopefully will work going forward!

I am going to try to figure the font thing out! Apparently, it looks normal on Macs and tiny on PC. No good! Since I work on a Mac I didn’t realize it was a problem until some people have mentioned it.

Oh, such pretty shots of the willow tree figurines. For some reason, your font is SO tiny, I can’t read it.
