Simple Things You Can Do to End Child Hunger

Sunday, April 17, 2016 by Lolli 2 Comments

This post is brought to you by Child Hunger Ends Here and The Motherhood. All opinions are my own.

As a mother of 5 kids, I’ve known the pressures of providing for my family. But we’ve always been blessed to have food on the table.

I know that children in my kids’ schools and in our neighborhood are not so fortunate.

It breaks my heart to think that there are so many children going through each day feeling hungry. I know what I feel like when I’m hungry. I get headaches, I can’t concentrate, and I’m easily irritable. And that happens when I eat a meal a little too late. I can’t imagine what it feels like to go day after day with an empty stomach.

Did you know?

More than one in five children and more than one in four Latino children in the U.S. may not know where their next meal is coming from. That’s more than 15 million children!

People living in all 50 states are affected by food insecurity, and kids are more at risk than the general population in almost every county in the United States.

Simple Ways to Make a Difference in the Effort to End Child Hunger

Luckily, it’s easy to make a difference in the fight to end child hunger. Kids and parents alike – regardless of age, money, or skills – can join together to help. The steps may be small, but the impact that they have is huge, especially when we’re working together.

  • Look for the red push pin on specially marked packages of ConAgra’s food, like Marie Callender’s® and Hunt’s®, and enter the code at www.childhungerendshere.com. (Look on your shelves to see what you’ve got already, and then be sure to put some ConAgra foods in the shopping cart next time you make a trip to the grocery store)
  • View Kid President’s new video about child hunger (this is the easiest step!)
  • Share Kid President’s Child Hunger video (I love this! Not only are you increasing awareness for this cause, but you are inspiring others to be involved, too). See below for some exciting details!
  • Donate food at your local food bank
  • Start a food drive in your community

To learn more about child hunger and to find additional ways to get involved, visit www.childhungerendshere.com and click on the “How You Can Help” tab.

The great news is that there are so many ways to make a difference that don’t require any money…which means that anyone can make a difference, even those of us who don’t have money to spare. Organizing a food drive or gathering and donating food at a local food bank are both fantastic ways to get the entire family involved in making a difference – and experiences like these are so important for kids to have!

Kid President is Taking a Stand. You can too!

Kid President (Robby Novak) and ConAgra have partnered to raise awareness of child hunger in America. Here’s what Kid President has to say about this important issue:

Just view or share this video from Kid President to help raise awareness for child hunger. For each view or share, ConAgra will donate the monetary equivalent of one meal to Feeding America, up to 100,000 meals.

Join the #ChildHungerEndsHere Twitter Party

ConAgra is spreading awareness about this important topic with a Twitter party on Tuesday, April 19 from 2-3 pm ET! I hope you can join in the #ChildHungerEndsHere conversation. Together we’ll learn more about child hunger and simple things that we can all do to help (like sharing Kid President’s video!). They’ll be giving away five prizes to randomly selected participants who answer the trivia rules correctly. Each prize includes a $25 Visa gift card.

I enter codes on select pacages of Marie Callenders meals and look for the codes. It is so sad about Childhood hunger and it should not be happening in the US. I give to the food bank as much as I can!
