Tagged!

Thursday, August 14, 2008 by Lolli Leave a Comment

I’ve been putting this off because I always have a certain amount of anxiety before I leave on a trip out of town…and I leave on Sunday to visit my mom in Utah and attend Education Week!! It’s one of the things I now look forward to the most through the whole year.

My friend, Krista, tagged me the other day and I figure I’d better get it DONE before I leave and take a big blogging break. Don’t miss me too much!

So here are the rules: List 3 joys, 3 fears, 3 current obsessions/collections, 3 surprising facts, and then tag 3 other people.

3 Joys

My family…I am overwhelmed with how much I’ve been blessed where my family is concerned. I have some of the most beautiful, intelligent, loving kids I know of…and a pretty darn good husband to go with ’em. As hard as it is to be a mom of 5, I get most of my joys from them.

Reading….Oh, if only I could read all day long! (actually, I might not like it quite as much then….) I love a good book. It’s one of the few things that really helps me relax.

Photography….I get so much satisfaction out of taking a good picture. I love looking at beautiful things and beautiful people, but there’s something extra exciting about creating an image. I love it!

3 Fears

A death in the family….Yes, I copied this one from Krista. How can any mother not have a constant fear that one of her children is going to be taken unexpectedly? Or that her spouse will be taken prematurely? I don’t know how I’d react. I know it terrifies me to think of being left, not only as a single mom, but left to sort out all of the paperwork. The paperwork scares me to death.

Whether or not I’m teaching my kids the “right” things….I worry all the time about teaching my kids the things that they need to know to make it on their own as successful adults someday, as well as helping them to develop their own testimonies. I sometimes wonder if it’s possible for all of out kids to “make it”. The odds are that somebody in the bunch is going to stray, and that scares me to death, too.

Phone calls….Ok–this is not on the same lines as the previous two, but I really do hate to make phone calls. If it’s somebody I know fairly well, it’s not that big of a deal, but if I don’t know the person I’m calling, I have to sit with the phone for a few minutes giving myself a pep-talk before I dial.

3 Obsessions

Editing pictures…..It’s kinda sad to think how much time I spend playing around with pictures on my computer, ever since I learned about all the cool things you can do with Photoshop and Lightroom. OK–the better I get, the less time it takes me. But I still love to play around with different effects, and sometimes go back through old pictures just to try new things on them.

E-mail….I don’t get much e-mail, really. But I can’t help checking it several times a day to see if there’s anything in my inbox. Sad.

Sweets…..YUM! Hand ’em over! I have a real sweet tooth and not much self-control. I love treats.

3 Surprising Facts about me

I taught piano lessons once upon a time. You’d never guess, considering I hardly play anymore!

I used to be a ballerina. LONG ago. But some of the things in ballet stuck with me, and I still enjoy doing a few of the things I learned. Just don’t ask me to tell you what they’re called. Or to do the splits. That ability is long gone. I do, however, have really good flexibility in my feet and I love standing on my tip toes.

I am really insecure about my talents/abilities, so it has taken a lot for me to share my pictures. And then once I share them, I get really worried about what people will think. Hmm…should I have put this in the fears section?
