Last night, after a nice and easy dinner with my brother and sister in law, everyone turned to dessert. I didn’t move fast enough, and missed getting some ice cream, but secretly I wasn’t too disappointed. What I really wanted was a few warm chocolate chip cookies. Lucky for me, my 12 year old stepped up and made some for me. I LOVE a warm chocolate chip cookie!
After many years of trying different cookie recipes, I found this one several years ago and I’ve stuck with it ever since. We’ve put it through rigorous taste-testing and trials. Even my kids can make this cookie turn out deliciously.
Enjoy!

- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 1 cup butter, softened (don't substitute margarine)
- 1 large egg
- 2¼ cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 1½ to 2 cups chocolate chips
- Heat oven to 375 F.
- Mix sugars, butter, egg in large bowl.
- Stir in flour, baking soda and salt (dough will be stiff).
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- Tip: Mix the dough with a wooden spoon, not with an electric mixer. They'll be bumpier if you stir by hand!
- Place dough in small balls in ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake 8-10 minutes or until light brown. Cool slightly and remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack.

I’d guess that mine end up being a little more than 2 inches around.
What size cookies! Thanks so much :)
Joanna, This recipe typically makes a little over 3 dozen for me, but exact numbers will vary depending on cookie size. Thanks! :)
How many cookies does this make??
Yum. Chocolate chip cookies are my favorite!

Too bad you can’t make it over to my house this afternoon. I have plenty to share. :)
