The Best Chocolate Chip Cookie #Recipe

Monday, April 23, 2012 by Lolli 10 Comments

Last night, after a nice and easy dinner with my brother and sister in law, everyone turned to dessert. I didn’t move fast enough, and missed getting some ice cream, but secretly I wasn’t too disappointed. What I really wanted was a few warm chocolate chip cookies. Lucky for me, my 12 year old stepped up and made some for me. I LOVE a warm chocolate chip cookie!

After many years of trying different cookie recipes, I found this one several years ago and I’ve stuck with it ever since. We’ve put it through rigorous taste-testing and trials. Even my kids can make this cookie turn out deliciously.

Enjoy!

Who doesn't love a soft and chunky chocolate chip cookie, fresh out of the oven?
Author: Lolli Franklin
Recipe type: cookie
Ingredients
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened (don't substitute margarine)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2¼ cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1½ to 2 cups chocolate chips
Instructions
  1. Heat oven to 375 F.
  2. Mix sugars, butter, egg in large bowl.
  3. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt (dough will be stiff).
  4. Stir in chocolate chips.
  5. Tip: Mix the dough with a wooden spoon, not with an electric mixer. They'll be bumpier if you stir by hand!
  6. Place dough in small balls in ungreased cookie sheet.
  7. Bake 8-10 minutes or until light brown. Cool slightly and remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack.
Notes
Tips: * Don't melt your butter all the way before mixing it with the other ingredients. Soft but but not runny/hot butter makes the best cookies. * Place the dough in the fridge for a few minutes before baking. * My first batch almost never turns out "perfect"....so why not make that first batch small (a test batch) while the rest of the dough is chilling in the fridge?

I’d guess that mine end up being a little more than 2 inches around.
