Oh boy! The County Fair! We love to go every year. Peanut Butter thinks I’m crazy (at least he used to!) to take 5 kids to the fair all day, but we love it. It’s something we look forward to every summer. Today we went with our friends, Safire and kids.
Some of the things we did: milking cows (we didn’t make it to the real cow-milking, but the kids thought the wooden cow was great!)
Petting ponies — Apple made a face at this pony and he blew right in Apple’s face. His owner was standing near by and she was so kind to open up the door and let the kids pet him. Oh boy, were they thrilled!!
While Safire fed the babies, the other kids entertained themselves on the bleachers and with the horses. We even found a really cool spider web under the bleachers and talked about Charlotte’s Web!
My kids LOVE the baby boys.
After dinner, we redeemed our coupons from the library for free ice cream! Yum! I thought it was hilarious for some reason that we had a parade of dairy cows walking behind us as we ate.
Taco and Reese loved the other fake cow that we found. LOL!
But the best part of the fair (for the kids, not for mom!) was the RIDES! Taco and Reese were enjoying their first (of 2) rides.
Apple was happy to sit out and hold Reese’s lollipop for her. :)
As the sun started setting, the fair looked so cool! I was hungry for some of the classic horrible-for-you fair food, but-alas-I ran out of cash! I guess it was silly of me to only get $40 from the ATM this morning. At least it kept me on a budget!
Kiwi and Noodle had an unexpectedly GREAT time today. I had told them I was NOT spending the $15 for them to get wristbands. But when we parked (in the best parking place ever, by the way!), Kiwi found a $20 right outside her door. She and Noodle had both earned $5 doing jobs for me this morning, so –wala!– they got wristbands! That’s them under the middle flag.
Kiwi finally convinced Noodle to try all of the BIG rides. I can’t do those anymore!
Taco was brave on his second ride….Noodle tagged along with him for fun.
By the time we left at 9pm, I was hurting all over. The kids were great sports, and it was ME that crashed in the end and had to call it quits. I need a good soak in the tub!
