The World May Never Know….

Sunday, January 10, 2010 by Lolli 6 Comments

What is the answer to that age-old question?

How many licks DOES it take to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop?

Have you ever tried to find out the answer?

This weekend, I over-heard my teenage daughter talking on the phone with her friend. She said, in all seriousness,

“I was bored today so I decided to see how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop.”

CandyMan and I cracked up.

But that wasn’t the end of it. Yesterday, she came to me and said, “About 900. That’s how many licks it takes to get to the center. I tried again.”

She did it. She got to the center without biting it. She licked in one direction, never putting the tootsie pop fully in her mouth. Very scientific.

Her only question….

“What does it really mean to get to the center? Is it when you first see the tootsie roll, or when it’s totally uncovered. Because I uncovered it.”

So what do you think? What DOES it mean to get to the center of the tootsie pop? Have you ever tried to find the answer?

I tried when I was that age, but never had the patience to do it. As to the question “What does it really mean to get to the center?”, I would say it is when you first see the center.

Just stopping by from SITS! Hope you have a great week!

That is the cutest thing I've ever heard! I've tried before, but I'm sure as most people, I didn't have the patience, and just bit in!

I only wish it were possible. But if you really want an unadulterated tootsie roll and a lollipop, I suppose you should just go for the two separate items. They do make those!

Sounds like u have a very smart and scientific daughter. How old? I feel like she's gonna be some type of analysis expert when she gets older.

THAT is hilarious! I would say when it is completely uncovered.

Congrats to her. You should give her a clean stick award! – https://www.tootsie.com/gal_licks.php
