I really hope I’m not stepping over some copyright line by posting the front of the birthday card that I got in the mail from my mom, but it was just too good to pass up. I think this card speaks to the teenage girl turned blogger in all of us…

Yes, it is my birthday. I’ll be celebrating by sleeping in and by watching Marmaduke on DVD with my kids, who I will pile into bed with me (since they are out of school on Friday and our basement is now my husband’s office). I’m wondering how the whole kids home all day without their toys or videos is going to work….so we are making the best of it and improvising. A movie in bed sounds pleasant enough for me!

And while we’re talking about then and now, here’s my 5th birthday party, 1979. Dizzying Seventies kitchen wallpaper and everything.

  4. Thanks! My mom cracked up when I posted this picture. She says she didn’t remember how bad the wallpaper was. We lived, by the way, in a former model home. It was uber-stylish.
