When CandyMan and I were engaged, we went to see a movie. I don’t remember much about the movie (I don’t even recall the title) but the impressions that the scenery had on me have stayed with me since that night in 1995. The gorgeous Italian scenery in the movie was the ultimate in romance in my mind. I leaned over to CandyMan and whispered that we needed to go there someday.
Sixteen years have passed and we have yet to make it to Italy. CandyMan has done a lot of traveling for his jobs, and I travel back and forth between the East and the West Coasts to visit family. In fact, I am on an airplane flying to San Francisco while I’m typing this post.
I don’t know what the attraction to Italy is. I love to travel, period. But Italy (despite the fact that I’ve never been there) holds a special place in my heart. Blame it on Valentine’s Day coming up next weekend and the fact that I’m on an airplane. I’ve got romance (and Italy short breaks) on the brain.
This year, CandyMan and I will celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary. Back when I was watching that romantic flick as a young, engaged college student, I couldn’t fathom 16 years of marriage. We are officially an old couple. I’ll turn around and before I know it we’ll be celebrating the big 2-0.
I think I’d better start hinting NOW that I think that a trip to Italy would be the perfect way to celebrate 20 years of marriage. Heck, why wait?
Do you have an ultimate romantic vacation spot, or somewhere you’ve been aching to visit, but haven’t had a chance to yet?
Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. But the story is all true. I’ve been wanting to go to Italy For Ever.

Your pic is beautiful! The sicilian and I have been talking about going to Italy for years. It seems like something else always come up. I’m thinking for our 20th we’ll go, that’s 4 years to wait…arggg. I hope you get there before your 20th!!!

Oh, please don’t ask me that question. It’s a dream. A far away dream that I kind of recall. LOL!

Please tell me that the sponsorship includes a free trip and that you get to take one more couple with you. (we promise to ignore you the whole time) We are celebrating our 10th anniversary this year, and we, too, would like a romantic getaway. Okay, so the truth is that romance is overrated and what I would like is a LAZY getaway. Bed, food, pool. Or even just a really big bath tub.

Romance??? What’s that??? Ask me again in a few years. I can’t imagine leaving the girls even overnight much less for several, but it will be nice whenever it does happen and I think at that point it wont matter where we go *LOL*
