Visiting St. Paul’s Chapel – 9/11 Memorial

Tuesday, December 6, 2011 by Lolli 13 Comments

On Sunday, Lori (A Day in Motherhood) and Lauren (Midget Momma) and I (yes, Lori, Lauren, and Laura) took a side-trip over to the site of the World Trade Center in hopes of seeing the new memorial. Access to the memorial is still very restricted and we couldn’t get in, but we visited St. Paul’s Chapel, the small church across the street from the World Trade Center, which became a place of rest and refuge for all of the recovery volunteers.

The entire experience of being there was profoundly moving. I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

My son sang at that church after 9-11. One of the most moving memories I have of my first trip to NYC. Hallowed ground.

You’re right, the pictures speak for themselves. The first headstone seems to have an outline of a woman, that struck me.
