War Horse Premiere Re-cap – I Walked the Red Carpet!

Friday, December 9, 2011 by Lolli 11 Comments

Hopefully you aren’t tired of hearing about my trip to New York City yet, because I still have so much to share! The other day, I told the story of the adventurous journey to the War Horse Premiere. But I didn’t have a chance to say much about the walk down the red carpet or the after party (they are worth a whole separate post!).

After our 25 minute, heart-pounding run through the streets of New York City, you’d think that we’d all be dead. On the contrary, I felt GREAT walking down the red carpet, with cameras flashing and reporters calling out (not to me, of course). The atmosphere was electric.

While I didn’t get to walk the red carpet at the same time as the stars of War Horse, just knowing that I walked the same red carpet as Steven Spielberg made my year.

Here’s the cast of War Horse on the red carpet:

And here’s me on the red carpet (it was crowded!):

My three favorite characters in the show were Jeremy Irvine (Albert Narracott), Emily Watson (Rosie Narracott), and Celine Buckens (Emily).

Once we were seated (third row seats!) Steven Spielberg himself came out on the stage to talk about the movie and introduce the actors. It was killing me that I couldn’t take my own pictures, but luckily the official event photographer was willing to share.

After the emotionally powerful movie (I have two things to say about War Horse: SEE IT. And bring tissues.) we headed outside the theater for the after-party, with celebrities sprinkled throughout the crowd.

Fellow blogger, Emily from The Clever Housewife, and I were determined to mingle and meet as many stars as possible. We definitely put ourselves out there, but we were able to chat with several of the actors from War Horse (Jeremy and Celine were absolutely delightful in person!) as well as a few other actors in attendance. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and we didn’t want to let it slip by, wasted.

I waited patiently to chat with Tony Danza, but in the end I had to settle with bumping into him. Still, Candyman was rather impressed with my report on having touched a celebrity from our childhood. Lest you think that makes Tony old, let me reassure you….he looked fantastic.

The evening ended on a high note. Despite our challenges in getting there, we were pumped after seeing such an amazing, inspiring movie, and then rubbing shoulders with celebrities.

What a night!

Note: WAR HORSE opens in theaters on December 25, 2011. It’s a must-see movie! Red carpet photos are the official War Horse Premiere photos, used with permission. The photo of me and of the blogger group were taken on our groups cameras.

Disclosure: Disney/Dreamworks sent me to New York City to attend the world premiere of War Horse. I am eternally grateful that I was able to go on this trip. It was both an adventure and a deeply moving experience. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and I did not receive any monetary compensation for the time I took to go to New York or write these posts.

I am so proud of you for mingling the way you did! I loved how he came out and introduced everyone before the film started!

PS. I’ll never forget the image of you running in your slippers in the city.
