MamaKat’s Writer’s Workshop prompt #1 called for a list of 10 things blogging has taught you. Here’s a quick list, in no particular order:
• I have a social side to me that I never knew existed. Social networking? PR? Suddenly, I’m a pro.
• I am good at something other than making dinner and getting kids ready for school (but I’m still good at that, too!).
• Russian and Spanish are not the only foreign languages I can learn (html IS a foreign language!)
• You can find friends in the most unlikely of places. I never thought I’d find so many in my computer.
• Sometimes it takes documentation for me to recognize my blessings. And my growth.
• Not only can I learn new things in my 30s, but I can learn them well enough to teach others.
• I can fit a lot of stuff into the hours between 9 and 3.
• My kids are very self-sufficient. They can do so much for themselves, and yet they always know that I’m here.
• Blogging takes a lot of time. And brain power.
• I love speaking in front of people. Who would have known?!

I totally agree with you here. Blogging is work and takes up a lot of time which is what people often do not realize: blogging is fun but blogging is hard work!

Blogging has taught me that not only am I able to talk a lot, I’m also able to write a lot. Ergo seven blogs…LOL.

Kimmie says
Blogging has taught me to not give up on my passion in life, which is to reach out to as many people as possible, through writing, speaking and counseling, about the all the insight I have gained through my own personal experience with overcoming obstacles in life.

*Laughing!* HTML is absolutely a foreign language!
I love this one best… *Smile* “My kids are very self-sufficient. They can do so much for themselves, and yet they always know that I’m here.” That is so very important.
Blogging’s major influence on me so far has been that it taught me the necessity in consistency, something I struggle with all the time!

After six years of blogging I have learned many things. But the thing that I am most appreciative is how blogging restored my passion for writing.

I never thought of the HTML being a separate language. That’s great. That means I DO know a foreign language!!!!

I totally agree! I have a post in edit about how skills I’ve gained from blogging should really be applicable when I rejoin the workforce in a few years. Great post!

I completely agree with you there! I just hope that my family understands!

You haven’t even opened it?! LOL!
Good to see you back, Tim! You’ve been missed. But sometimes we all need a break with the family.
Lolli says
Yep. I learned enough to get myself around Moscow on my own. While I was sick and pregnant, no less.
Allison says
I learned that blogging takes a ton of time. Way more than I ever imagined. But I really enjoy it, so it doesn’t seem like work.

That is too funny. I bought this bible if you will on HTML. It is so thick and has little bity words on every page. Its so intimidating to look at that I havent even opened it yet. LOL
Sorry its been so long since you’ve heard from me. I had to take a bloggy break to spend more
time with the family. I’m back now though and look forward to reconnecting with some of my best buds like you!
Hope all has been well. By the looks of your followers it has!
Love and Prayers,
Tim

I came to the blogging game much later in life. But I, too, can learn HTML. And I write about stuff I never thought I’d reveal.
But I don’t think I’d like the speaking in public thing – I’m more of the ‘snide comments from the corner’ type.
Isn’t blogging great fun?
