After several years of birthdays that were rather mediocre (sorry, hun, but it’s true), I decided that men and children out there needed a little lesson on what women want for their birthday (or Christmas or Valentines Day or Mother’s Day. Heck, we’ll take it for Halloween, too).
What we really want is to be pampered all day. Let us sleep in, eat breakfast in bed (and, no, cold cereal does not count), and then relax in the bathtub with an assortment of yummy-smelling soaps and bubbles. (Note: Please be sure to clean the bathtub prior to the special day). This Lilly Organics HOME SPA Relaxation To Go set will do just fine.
Matching Mom and daughter super-cute aprons are a fantastic gift (every woman loves to feel pretty while she’s working in the kitchen!) but PLEASE don’t let her get away with cooking at all on her special day.
Instead, make plans to cook up a fancy cake (or even better, cupcakes!) for Mom while she’s relaxing in bed or in the tub. And you know that the secret to beautiful creations in the kitchen is the right set of tools, so be sure to stock up on cupcake decorating and displaying supplies, like my favorite cupcake display from Wilton.
And while the family is in the kitchen making dessert, whipping up some dinner would be a nice touch. Since dinner is often a slight challenge for husbands and children, may I recommend these cooking classes on DVD? Think of the long term benefit the whole family would get out of these?!
Pampering and rest, dinner and dessert are more than nice, but Moms love some gifts to unwrap as well. Why not something to help make home life a little more organized….or a digital photo frame to proudly display the kids’ pictures (bonus that it’s currently on super sale!)?
And then there is always Mom’s favorite….. jewelry. Nothing says I think you are the best mom ever like a gorgeous necklace.
Not going to happen? Then take my mom’s advice: Make your birthday what you want it to be. In other words, get out and buy yourself a little something. Give yourself permission to splurge and pamper. And what better way to do that than with a SALE? Yep, I’ve got ten 25% off coupons to use in my OpenSky store. All of the items I just featured, along with dozens of other recommendations (even if they are already on sale like that digital photo frame) are 25% off with code BETTER30PCT. Hurry, though….I’ve only got ten of these coupons and the code is only good until October 31.
Note: I did not receive any of these items for my birthday. No siree. I also was not compensated for writing about any of these products featured in this post. These are hand picked by me from my OpenSky store. Now….if you happen to buy something (on sale! Yay!) then I will get paid a small amount (double Yay!).
While you’re here, would you mind voting for me again in the Amazing Avocado recipe contest? I’m the cute one named Laura with the Corn and Avocado salsa recipe. I really want that $5000 prize!

Funny enough, the fiance and I were talking about my bday just this morning. We’re going to find someone to watch the kids overnight, and go stay in a hotel for a night. Just go to dinner, maybe see a movie, and get a night of real sleep.
Exotic? No. Amazing? Yes. I hope it happens.

I know your wife, and I know that she’s not an alien. I remember several Christmases ago when I got a wheat grinder. I was thrilled….my friends were openly “sorry for me.” It was quite amusing.

I must be married to an alien. She likes Family History subscriptions and hair stuff. Pampering is not really her thing.
