Yellowstone National Park #PSF

Thursday, September 18, 2014 by Lolli 4 Comments

It’s hard to believe that I am still going through pictures from this summer’s trip. I suppose this is what happens when the 6-week-long road trip ends the day before school starts. We jumped right in to the fall routine and haven’t had a real chance to recover from the travel. Or maybe it’s just me. I also started a new job as a community manager for Bedtime Math at the end of August, so I’ve been busier than usual getting used to a new work routine. On top of the new school routine.

Hence the neglected vacation pictures.

Yellowstone is one of the most majestic places on earth. I love it. The animals weren’t very active while we were there, perhaps because of the excessive rain…or the fact that we were there in mid-July.

But we did spot a grizzly bear romping through the river, so I can’t complain.

One of the first places we stopped after we got into Yellowstone national Park was this rock formation. The photo below does not accurately convey just how high that ledge was. And that platform on the right that’s separated from the rest of the ledge? People were jumping onto it…and some of my kids wanted to try. I was up above with my camera having a panic attack. I almost cried. I was so sick to my stomach at the idea of my kids jumping…or even being near something that dangerous.

Can you tell I am getting anxious just looking at this picture again?

Can you spot the grizzly bear in the river? It was far away, but it was so fun to see it romping through the grass and water. It was plenty far away and did not pose any dangers. They take that pretty seriously at Yellowstone.

When we stopped to see Old Faithful erupt, I was blown away by how many people were there with us. That crowd of onlookers stretched farther behind me and to the left.

It was a fabulous day, with not enough bathrooms (toilets are not easy to find at Yellowstone, especially when you’re desperate).

There wasn’t enough time in our day there to see the entire park, but what we did see and experience was incredible. We can’t wait to go back!

Have you ever been to Yellowstone? What is your favorite thing to see there?

I have always wanted to go to Yellowstone Park. What a great place to take your family to visit. I would have been just like you with my kids on that rock formation, There is no way I would have let them jump to that separated piece. Thanks for sharing your amazing photos, they are next best thing other than being there in person.
