Summer is in full swing, and that means pool time, sunshine, popsicles….and cries of “I’m bored!” heard throughout the day.
What’s a parent to do? I try to keep my kids occupied with a healthy mixture of exercise for their bodies and brains – reading, playing outside, arranging play-dates, earning TV time…it’s all good (but so much work!). Learning a new language (or brushing up on a language they know a little) is the perfect solution to beating the summer-time boredom blues. I have an exciting announcement from Language Stars (keep reading below) especially targeted to those living in the DC Metro area (as well as the Chicago area).
What is Language Stars?
Language Stars is play-based, full-immersion foreign language classes that open children’s minds to new worlds. Toddlers, pre-schoolers and K-5th graders benefit from an early start, during a unique window of opportunity when their young brains absorb the magic of another language and culture easily and rapidly. The Language Stars program is available for children ages 1 – 10 and each child gets the attention they need to learn quickly – the maximum number of students per class is 8! There are 7 centers in the DC area focusing on Spanish, French, Mandarin Chinese, Italian, and German.
Language Stars is perfect for summer time and all year round!
This summer Language Stars is open for ADVENTURE through their FunImmersion® language programs in Spanish, French, Mandarin, Italian, and German. Each of their classes are taught by native-speaking teachers who immerse kids in the language and culture of their country…all while having loads of fun!
This summer, your kids can enjoy Immersion Camps (5 days a week, with 2 week sessions), Immersion Classes (one or more days a week), or they be flexible with an Immersion Pass (good for 10 half day passes that can be used throughout the summer).
After summer, Language Stars offers both Kids Only and Parent & Tot classes throughout the year, using the same FunImmersion technique which uses songs, games, and activities to immerse kids in the language.

Yep! Toddlers join parents or caregivers in games, songs, and activities to learn basic words and phrases together. I haven’t taken a baby (just older kids) but I bet it would be fun! He’ll learn words in the foreign language at the same time that he’s learning his first words.
