Raining Fireworks

Monday, July 5, 2010 by Lolli 7 Comments

We thought we had picked the perfect spot for viewing the fireworks last night. Just outside of the fairgrounds, on a nice patch of grass, with an easy enough escape route to get back home once the crowds dispersed. In fact, once the fireworks started, we were convinced that it was, indeed, a perfect spot.

And then we started feeling things drop. Like drops of rain, but dry. A spatter on the cheek, a few drops on the hair. Finally, Reese said, “Daddy! Look what just fell on my head!” A fuse, several inches long, had fallen out of the sky. For the rest of the presentation, we were sprinkled with ashes and debris. Not exactly the perfect way to watch 4th of July fireworks.

Luckily, I had taken my camera along and had lots of fun taking long-shutter-speed pictures of the sky.

While you’re here, you might want to check out Hunt’s High Five Family Photo Fun Contest which just launched this past Friday, July 2nd. Hunts is inviting Moms to submit pictures on their Facebook page depicting family accomplishments and simple victories. To enter, visit https://www.facebook.com/Hunts for a chance to win a family vacation (up to $5,000).

And don’t forget to vote for me in the BlogLuxe Awards (Blogs You’ve Learned the Most From category)!!

PS–my internet has been out all weekend, and I am currently using my neighbor’s wifi. Wish me luck in getting back up and running!

Yikes! About 4 years ago a little 12 yr old was killed by debris locally on the Fourth of July. So so sad. Glad everyone was okay!
