A Child’s Letter to Mom

Tuesday, March 16, 2010 by Lolli 41 Comments

This afternoon, the kids and I worked our way to the park across the street after school was over. It was just too nice outside to do homework inside today.

Park play. Doing homework in the shade.

Reese looked so adorable doing her homework on the park table that I sat across from her snapping pictures for a while before sneaking a peak at what she was writing.

And when I saw what she was writing, of course I had to snap a few pictures of that, too. Who knew that she liked me so much??

Apparently, I am pretty darn nice.

Park play. Letter to Mom

After homework time was over, the kids ran off to play. I brought my book so that I could leisurely read….and my mega-zoom lens so that I could capture pictures like this while I was sitting on the other side of the park.

Park play! Riding the bee.

I don’t know if it had anything to with the sun this afternoon or this hunka-hunka boy showing me his muscles, but my heart was feeling pretty full by the time we headed home.

Park play. Showing the muscles

Oooh. Sneaky thought. As far as I know she wasn’t in any trouble. I think she was just feeling unusually generous and grateful after I let her do her homework at the park. I mean, how cool is HER MOM?

It was a great afternoon, but unlike the kids, I kept my jacket on. 60 is still a little chilly for me, even with the sun shining. :)

Don’t you love it when kids are SWEET and loving to mom?! I need to hold on to these moments, because they seem to be fewer and farther between now that they’re getting older!

  15. Lolli says

Aww…thanks! I think we’re gonna have to do homework outside more often from now on!

After she had written the letter, I looked over her homework and found the instructions: “Write a letter to one of your favorite fairy tale characters….” She was about the erase her letter to me, but I quickly stopped her and told her I’d get a new paper for the homework.

Strangely, my older kids never write those kind of letters for homework anymore. I’m enjoying this while I can!

Awww, what a tough looking tyke. I love it when kids write all kinds of sweet letter and when they grow up they will vehemently deny writing something so cheezy.
