A Week of Thanksgiving – A Job

Monday, November 21, 2011 by Lolli 4 Comments

Lilkidthings

I have a lot to be thankful for. I really do.

The problem is….lately I tend to overlook my blessings and focus on the stresses that are so overbearing.

When my friend Andrea from Lil-Kids-Things told me about A Week of Thanksgiving, I knew this was an exercise I needed for myself.

Today, I am grateful for a job. Really, I have 3 jobs. I blog here, I write and edit for 5 Minutes for Mom, and I am a photographer. I am grateful that I can do each of these jobs at home and that I can still be available for my kids. Although my jobs are very demanding and time consuming, I am flexible enough that I can be at home when my kids are sick, and I am always around to help them with their homework.

I am grateful that 15 years after graduating from college I am doing something that I love and that I am good at. I know that I am not the best at what I do….I look at other photographers’ and writers’ work and know that I have a lot of room to improve. But I have been successful at something that I love. What more could I ask for?

I love that in my mid-to-late-30’s I am learning. I learn every day. And I stretch myself regularly. I may have a lot of stresses in my life but I also have many joys, and I find great satisfaction from exercising my creative talents daily.

What are you thankful for today?
