LiveOn – Preserving Family Memories

Tuesday, November 22, 2011 by Lolli Leave a Comment

Thank you to LiveOn for this sponsored opportunity to blog about storing and sharing my most important memories with those closest to me. Although story ideas were provided, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Last night, my kids sat downstairs, gathered around the television. They laughed. They oohed and ahhed. They giggled some more. The show that they were watching was an old one, familiar in a distant kind of way. The stars? Themselves.

Our “family cheer”

My kids love watching old home movies, and every time we sit down to watch our old home movies I regret that we haven’t filmed more of them.

There’s Necco as a bob-haired 4 year old holding newborn Reese, who she called her “born baby.” She was so proud to have a younger sister.

There’s AJ taking his first steps.

There’s my extended family, singing Christmas carols at my mom’s house in 1998, when I was just a few months pregnant with Necco and KitKat was a curly-haired toddler.

There’s Grandma Betty playing the piano with Twizzler on her lap, singing the Itsy Bitsy Spider as Necco tries to teach her the “right way.”

These memories captured are absolutely precious. Priceless.

I believe I have a unique perspective to capturing and recording family memories. If it weren’t for the things that my dad had written down – letters, a short life story – and the things that he recorded for me before he passed away, I would have missed out on so much. But because he left me those recordings and writings, I feel like I know him a little better. And my children can get to know their other grandfather in the same way.

LiveOn

I was just introduced to a site called LiveOn, which was just recently launched and I am so excited about it.

As I sat down and explored LiveOn, I was immediately impressed with the idea behind their site: Add memories (in video or written form), add photos, and share them with your family and friends. The best part? Those memories will be stored by LiveOn forever. Your grandchildren can listen to your advice, hear your voice long after you’re gone.

Here’s how simple it is:

  • Sign up for a free LiveOn account
  • Add your Memories
  • Share with your tribe (family and friends that you have connected with)
  • They make sure it lasts forever

One of my favorite features on LiveOn is the variety of questions and prompts that they have on the website, so that all I have to do is visit LiveOn and answer a question. It doesn’t have to take a lot of time, and I can add a memory here and there as I think of something, or set a goal to add a memory a day.

Although LiveOn’s site is free to use, you can also add a LiveOn subscription which gives you access to Premium Tools for advanced memory transitions, effects and an expanded music library, as well as more shoeboxes, more narrated accounts, and discounts on LiveOn Rewind. LiveOn has passed on a coupon code for 20% off on LiveOn Rewind, which allows you to convert your physical memories into digital ones. Just enter code: cgc43.

Thank you again to LiveOn for sponsoring this blog post. Please click here to learn more about storing and sharing your most special memories. I was selected for this sponsorship by Clever Girls Collective. All opinions expressed here are my own.
