An Apple a Day…

an apple a day

I wish I could say that I eat an apple a day. I would if I hadn’t become allergic to them after having kids (I blame the summer I spent in Russia while I was pregnant with KitKat. I ate many apples every day).

My kids eat their fair share of apples….but this post isn’t really about apples. It’s about my kids. Or my lack of them. As much as I love having time during the day to get everything done without children in tow, like trips to the Emissions office or grocery shopping or simply working at home, I am missing them.

Yes, as much as I looked forward to this day, when all of my kids would be in school, as loud and demanding and messy as they are when they’re home, I am missing them. And although brown things are interesting to take pictures of once in a while, it is a lonely business. I’ve never had to search very far to find things to photograph, so today while I was walking around my street looking for inspiration it hit me how much I miss having a kid or two around all the time.

I took advantage of some mid afternoon snacking today to fill that need for time with AJ, just like we did all last year while it was just the two of us all day long. And now I’m going to shut the computer back down to read him a story or two while Reese plays with my hair.

And apple a day keeps the loneliness away. I’ll just let the kids eat it while I watch.

What a sweet post. It must be such an adjustment to have them all in school. For me, it won’t change much, other than I’ll save some money ;)

I love the apple series and I think the smile just might be my fav. (I didn’t know you guys spent a summer in Russia, I’m jealous. I so want to go back and I pout anytime I think about missing the temple dedication).

Cute pictures!!!! I feel the same way on the mornings that Madaline doesn’t get up shortly after I get out of the shower (6:30). She sits in the bathroom with me as I go through my daily routine and chatters away at me about the most random stuff. Some days I find it highly irritating because I’m rushing to get ready and her constant stream of chatter or endless questions grate a wee bit on my already frazzled nerves. And, then, as fate would have it, the next day she’s sleep until well after 7. And, the silence is deafening. Such a catch 22.

I can certainly relate as well. And love that eating an apple can turn into a great photo op. Love the collage. Happy WW!

Oh, this was such a sweet post. As soon as nap time is over, I’m giving my kiddo an apple, and hugging him extra tight.

You’d better get started soon if you want another 10!! ;) Happily, I can eat cooked fruits, so apple pie is still one of my favorites. Too bad it’s not “quite” so healthy when it’s cooked up like that! LOL

I’ve definitely noticed a huge difference since I stopped working at home as much. Now, the house seems so much more quiet.

Bravo to you for surviving 3 weeks in a hotel room with kids!!

Someday you’ll be in my place, and after so many years of wanting time to yourself you’ll find that it’s kind of weird. And quiet.

I had fun again at Aldi today! D was very happy with the nutty bars. :)

Oh! Lolli! This is exactly how I feel. I miss my baby. And I keep telling Gary I am going to go absolutely insane if we don’t have another (or ten)… : )

Love your apple pictures and can not believe you are allergic to them now. I wish I was allergic when my mom makes apple pie because I seriously eat the whole freaking thing!

I think that learning to miss your kids is one of the best reasons to have them in school all day. What is that old saying, absences makes the heart grown fonder….. :)

I can definitely relate to this Lolli. My kids drove me nuts all summer. Living in a hotel room with them for 3 weeks during our move from Georgia to Missouri will do that. I counted down the days til their return to school and when they got on the bus for their first day of school, I cried. I missed them so.
Sweet post. Come on over and take a guess at this week’s WW mystery photo when you get a chance. Have a great day.
