Another trip to the doctor, another tag

Thursday, January 15, 2009 by Lolli Leave a Comment

Hey, friends! It’s been a busy day over here.

After sending KitKat back to school yesterday (I figured she needed to expose a few of her friends….Geesh!), and after she looked worse than ever in the evening, I finally broke down and decided to take her to the doctor. I had hesitated to take her in earlier this week because Twizzler was just in for the same thing last Friday and it was nothing but a virus. Of course, HERS was NOT just a virus. Yes! We have one more case of strep! We’re getting pretty good at this! And, before you get upset at the doctor for not taking KitKat’s tonsils out, this is only HER 2nd case this Winter.

The best news of the day (as if the STREP was not good enough news for you?!)…..TWO local grocery stores, Giant and Safeway, are offering Free Antibiotics. Granted, Amoxicillan is typically less than $5, but HEY! I was able to get free medicine for KitKat AND do my grocery shopping at the same time. I won’t complain (I’ll only complain about how the doctor is eating us out of house and home!).

Isn’t it time for Winter to be over already?

I noticed this afternoon while eating my delicious Chicken Caesar salad that I was tagged by my new friend, Kricia (who happens to be a self-taught photographer, too!). So, if you are still reading, you get to find out 7 random things about me! Let’s see what my random, sick-of-being-in-the-house-or-the-doctor brain will pull up for you.

1–I mix up letters in words when I’m typing. My biggest mixs-ups: form (from), jsut (just), thsi (this). My kids will often stand behind me while I’m typing at the computer and correct me. It bugs me to death, and I tell them every time, “I know I misspell words when I’m typing fast, but I go back and correct tham when I’m done.” So please forgive me if I happen to miss a few. (Why that was the first random thing that came to my mind, I do not know.)

2–Like Kricia, I am a self-taught photographer. I don’t have any training, and while I completely love photography, I am always so critical of my own pictures and almost always think that other people are much better than me (which is probably completely true!). I love the positive feedback I get on my blogs. You guys motivate me to keep trying and keep getting better!

Remember this beauty?

3–I totally spoil and baby AJ and I can’t stop. I carry him half the time while we’re out….Just a few weeks ago I wore him in the Mei Tai carrier (which is still under his seat in the car, even though he is 3 1/2) for 2 hours so he could take a nap at church. When CandyMan heard, he said, “Why didn’t you just put him in the stroller?” Hmm. It didn’t even occur to me. He is my baby. I might not even send him to preschool next year so that I can keep him close for another year.

Back when he was small enough to ride in the MeiTai all day…

4–I stay up way too late. I love the peace and quiet of the night. But I am also a morning person, and am usually the first to wake up. Wait. I take that back. KitKat gets out of bed before me and hops in the shower while I hit snooze. I guess that doesn’t count. I am often tired because I don’t get enough sleep.

5–My blog will be getting a face-lift/make-over this weekend. I am way more excited about my blog’s makeover than I would be if I were to get one on myself. I won a make over from April Showers last month. Be sure to check back to see my new look and go give April some love!

6–I am listening to Latin music from my iTunes library right now. I got into Latin dancing when I was a freshman in college (way back in 1993). I spent the summer between my 1st and 2nd years in college in Mexico and I have loved it since. I am dancing in my seat.

7–I live in a suburb of Washington D.C. and I will not be going down to next week’s Inauguration. I feel somewhat guilty about it. I would love to go, but the reports of the weather, the crowds, the hassle (bridges, roads, etc closed to cars. Foot traffic only), and the fact that I’d have to keep track of 5 kids totally stresses me out. I wish that I could be part of history. I wish that I could go downtown with nothing but my camera and take pictures of the crowds (seriously, that is a dream come true for me!) but instead we will stay at home and look at other people’s pictures online. I can’t even watch the festivities on TV because we don’t have reception. :(

Last year at the Cherry Blossom Festival

OK, not for the rules (we’ve got to have rules!):
* Link to the person who tagged you
* Post the rules on your blog
* Write 7 random things about yourself
* Tag 7 people at the end of your post and link to them
* Let each person know they’ve been tagged

I tag
~Safire (get that Blog Mojo back!)
~Chillygator
~Tara
(because I’d like to get to know them better)
~and anybody else who would like to play along. A wave of fatigue just hit me, and I can’t think anymore.
