Back to Blogging Day 1

Monday, September 13, 2010 by Lolli 13 Comments

Back2BloggingThe SITS girls have set out a series of challenges to get back into blogging. I admit–the summer is a difficult time to stay on a consistent schedule of blogging (and especially reading and commenting on other blogs) so I like this idea of following a daily challenge to get back into the blogging groove. Not that I currently have a problem with finding things to blog about or anything…

I started my blog 3 years ago next month. Technically, my first post was all of 3 sentences that said, “I am going to start a blog because everyone else is doing it….” My second post, It’s Comcastic, was not much more interesting, but at least it included some cute pictures of Reese and AJ. When I started blogging, I knew nothing at all about the blogging WORLD and had no clue that people who were not my close friends and family members would have any interest in what was going on in my life.

So here we go. My first post, October 5, 2007:

Woohoo! We are up and running with Comcast. The Comcast technician got to our house this morning at 9:30 and was literally working til 1:30 to hook up our phones and computers. Jeez! I hope they don’t charge us by the hour for installation. I’m crossing my fingers that everything will run smoothly.

Today has been an odd day, since we were stuck at home while the Comcast guy was here (and now AlmondJoy’s sleeping, so I’m still not going anywhere). I’ve been keeping myself busy this new school year. Reese started Pre-kindergarten last month, and the bus picks her up for school every day at 12:05. Since AJ takes his nap around 12:30 (and, believe it or not, he actually asks to go to sleep every day!), 8:30 to 11:30 is my time to run errands. And then I’ve been taking the little guys to the Parent Resource Center every Tuesday and Thursday. Our days are busy.
Here are a few pictures from the Resource Center yesterday…

Do you remember what your first blog post was about?

PS–as an added bonus, Standards of Excellence, Westar Kitchen and Bath, and Florida Builder Appliances are sponsoring the Back to Blogging Challenge and will be giving away a beautiful brand new washer and dryer pair.

It is so fun getting to see where everyone has grown and changed over the months and years. Your photography has really improved. But your kids are still as adorable!

So cute! I struggled with the nickname thing too. When I started I used her name, then I switched to a nickname, but so many people commenting would use her name. I just gave up.

I remember my first blog post. I started it as an outlet for a stressed out SAHM and caregiver and it has become so much more:-)

How did you decide on a blog name? I still don’t like my blog name but I think I’m stuck with it LOL

I also didn’t think anyone else would be interested in what I had to say, other than the small group of people that were interested in my knitting progress. I think it was better for me to start out that way and build up the confidence – I don’t think I would have made it if I thought there would be more than 10 people reading it.

I agree that it was best for the blog to evolve as we evolved. It helps in the growing process.
