Birthdays are kind of a big deal around here. Especially when you’re a kid. This week, we celebrated my youngest daughter’s 11th birthday. For some odd reason, she wasn’t in the mood to let anyone know about it – she wanted to keep the birthday completely hush-hush.
But not at home. At home, she was the star.
We followed all of our birthday traditions – presents from mom and dad in the morning before school, lunch out with mom (Panera for the win!), presents from the siblings in the afternoon, a big family dinner, and then cake and ice cream before bed.
What are your family’s birthday traditions?
PS – I hate to call these photos my “best shots” of the week. They’re simply ordinary snapshots of my birthday girl. This pictures are nothing to be proud of…but this girl sure is.
This year, Reese has taken up and EXCELLED both piano and karate (among all of the other things she does in and out of school). She has grown up so much this past year, both in height and *particularly* in maturity. She’s become a beautiful young woman.
And now for the mobile shots throughout the day!
What photos have you taken this week? Please share on this week’s Give Me Your Best Shot – Photostory Friday linky below!

Mascha,
My oldest daughter’s birthday is Christmas Eve, so I know exactly what you mean. She’s not very fond of it, but we definitely go all out for her birthday to try to make it extra special.

Maybe not the best shots, but the tell i lovely story!
My birthday is on Christmas, that was always in the general celebrations and was disappointing for me as a child … later I was glad to never have to work on birthday –
