Blogher 2012 Top 10 – Not-So-Wordless Wednesday #Linky

Tuesday, August 7, 2012 by Lolli 8 Comments

I wrote my Blogher Top 10 list this morning and was not entirely shocked to find that everything that made my time at Blogher so much fun really had nothing to do with Blogher.

That is not to say that I didn’t have a wonderful time at Blogher this year. It was just different. And I really don’t feel like I just got home from a conference. A very busy weekend of parties and sight-seeing, yes. A wonderful opportunity to see a bunch of my friends in the same place. Absolutely. Educational? Eh. Beneficial for my blog? Sadly, I have to say probably not. I go to conferences to network, and I felt like there was too much “noise” for any of that to happen. I didn’t have time to attend any sessions, and I heard that the classes were too packed to get into, anyway.

Regardless, Blogher12 was full of fun experiences. Here’s the top of my list:

  1. Falling asleep in a cool room every night
  2. Chatting on the penthouse rooftop with Kelly Whalen
  3. Sharing a cab with four women (with Elizabeth Norton on my lap)
  4. Dancing with the Rockettes
  5. Seeing Newsies on Broadway
  6. Hanging out in the hallway with friends during Sparklecorn
  7. Getting a personal ride to Times Square from my wonderful sponsors, Dodge
  8. Having a shopping spree at the Scholastic store
  9. Getting two back massages in one day
  10. Walking around NYC for 4 1/2 hours and making it back to the hotel minutes before the lightening started

I didn’t take many pictures with my real camera. I was much more likely to whip out my phone and Instagram my experience. Remember that Blogher collage project I mentioned before I left? If you haven’t entered yet, you should hop on over to Picaboo and enter to win one of three collage posters.

Heya this is kinda of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have
to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding skills so I wanted to get advice from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Love hearing about all you did while you were there & what it was like. Great info to keep in mind for future conferences.

Wow, well needless to say, it sounds like you had an amazing time… and I’m glad you shares your photos and your experience! I haven’t been to one yet. But I have to say, I think it would be such fun to meet up with some of my blog friends!
    :)

Love seeing all the pics and happy to hear you had fun. But reading this I’m kinda happy I wasn’t able to go. I very much want to learn more about what can make a blog great and then not to get into the sessions would have been upsetting. As much as I want to meet many of my bloggy friends, I just can’t justify the expense, yet!
