Cans for Fans – ShopRite’s Fight Against Hunger

Thursday, January 5, 2012 by Lolli Leave a Comment

Despite all of the hardships that my family and I have endured over the past few years, we have always had food to eat. It’s hard for me to imagine the feelings of a parent who doesn’t have food to feed to their children, but I know that families like that are everywhere. They are my neighbors.

I help when I can, participating in canned food drives when they are available and helping out with regular service at a local homeless shelter…but hunger is something that so many families face every day.

I wanted to share some information about a simple way that anyone can help.

The ShopRite Can Can Sale and “Cans for Fans” drive:

During the 2012 Can Can Sale (1/5 – 1/21), ShopRite will donate one can of food (up to 50,000 cans) to local food banks in the communities it serves, on behalf of every new ShopRite Facebook fan.

In 2011, ShopRite donated 40,000 cans of food to local food banks during its annual Can Can Sale. Now in its 41st year, the Can Can Sale has become even more special with the “Cans for Fans” Facebook program, which enables fans to get involved in the fight against hunger.

Here’s what you can do to get involved:

    • Visit ShopRite on Facebook – the more “Likes” that ShopRite receives, the more cans they will donate to those in need – it’s that simple! Even if you don’t have a ShopRite near you, your “Like” will result in a donated can of food.
    • Visit ShopRite’s “Get Can Canned” website at ShopRiteCanCan.com and upload a personal photo to become a virtual ShopRite Can Can dancer (the kids will get a kick out of this!)

Disclosure: This information was provided to me by ShopRite through MyBlogSpark. I did not receive compensation for this post, but I have a chance to win a ShopRite giftcard. However, I posted this not for the chance at a gift card but simply to share a good cause.
