I cannot stop eating Dove Chocolate.
Is there anything better worse more torturous than buying Easter candy two weeks early and having to hide it from the kids?
Yes. Receiving a whole bag of new DOVE Milk Chocolate with Peanut Butter that I didn’t have to hide. Because I ate and ate and ate it until the bag was empty. Despite my initial reaction to getting a package of chocolates with MY name on them, I did end up sharing a few pieces with my family, who begged me to try some. I relented. But most of those creamy bad boys ended up in my mouth.
I don’t quite know what to say about my experience testing out the new Dove Milk Chocolate with Peanut Butter candies. A few words that come to my mind are:
Creamy. Delicious. Melt-in-your-mouth good. Silky-smooth. Addictive. I couldn’t stop popping them in my mouth.
The kids loved them, too. So much so that AJ begged me for more of my peanut butter chocolates all day long. And made me read the messages inside each and every wrapper that he opened. My favorite message (and, yes, I did keep this wrapper…) was:
“Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on after all others have let go.”
And you’d better believe I found CandyMan sneaking a few here and there. We ARE a candy family, after all. Chocolate is our weakness. And this is GOOD CHOCOLATE.
Did you know anything about DOVE’s history?
Created with love by Greek-American founder Leo Stefanos, DOVE® Chocolate has been a rich family tradition since the 1950s. Witnessing his son racing down the street after an ice cream truck, the Chicago candy store owner developed the DOVEBAR® out of concern for his children’s safety. Hand-dipping ice cream in premium chocolate, Leo took months to refine the recipe, naming the new treat after his south side candy shop, a moniker chosen for its “peaceful” quality. Those first rich, creamy DOVEBAR® were an instant success, but it wasn’t until Leo’s son grew up and followed in his father’s footsteps that DOVE® Chocolate became known from coast to coast. By the late ‘70s over one million DOVEBAR® were sold in a single year by street vendors to eager children and adults. The DOVEBAR® popularity soon caught the attention of another family of expert chocolatiers. M&M/Mars acquired DOVE® in 1986 as the crown jewel of their company, and refined DOVE® Chocolate’s purity and taste before introducing milk and dark chocolate bars in the ‘90s.
DOVE can also be found on Twitter and on Facebook. And in my closet behind my long sleeve shirts. Just don’t tell my kids.
Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of DOVE and received samples DOVE Milk Chocolate with Peanut Butter products and a gift certificate to facilitate my review.

I’m not huge on PB either, but do you know what I learned? It isn’t your fault. Fat and such is actually more addictive than cocaine. Yep, that’s the new finding that’s on the news today. No wonder you ate the whole bag :)

I am so, so sorry. The fact that DOVE bars are not sold in Canada is truly a tragedy. If I could mail one to you, I would. I’m afraid it wouldn’t make the trip very well, though.

I absolutely love those candies! They are to die for, and I would die for them, fighting for the bag against the ruthless boys I live with. And it’s okay that you ate the whole bag; you just didn’t want to lose them to your family members. You were protecting them!

I LOVE Dove chocolate, well any chocolate, but there’s just something special about Dove chocolates. Maybe it’s the messages in the wrapper or because it really is fantastic tasting chocolate. I’m partial to the dark chocolate myself.

OMG. I LOVE their ice cream bars. The chocolate is good but their ice cream bars go way beyond and above heaven. They are SO amazing and unlike their chocolate, they’re not sold in Canada! Is that a tragedy or what?

Those ones are good. I like their dark chocolate ones. They are dreamy.

Is 8:30 am too early to run to the store for some Dove? Because that is what you have me dreaming about doing….and there is no way that the chocolate will make it all the way home with me! ;-)

Oh, that sounds sooo good. I gave up cookies, candy, cake and ice cream for Lent. I know, I know, I must be crazy. I didn’t realize how looong Lent is!
ANYTHING Dove is delicious. My kids would love those PB ones too. They’ve been whining that they’re suffering too since I haven’t bought any treats for weeks.
But then at this point I’d eat anything chocolate. Chocolate covered grasshoppers? Um, yeah, you got any?
Safire says
Mmm…that sounds good. :) I may have to try them out myself!

Mmmmmmm…I’m not a big fan of peanut butter – the hubby is, but this does sound delicious and it is covered with Dove chocolate. We’ll have to try it out. Here’s hoping you still have a few years left of being able to get away with hiding chocolate in your closet. :)
