Father’s Day Gift Guide

Wednesday, June 16, 2010 by Lolli 4 Comments

Did you know that Father’s Day is this Sunday, June 20? Have you ever asked yourself, “What in the world am I going to get my husband for Father’s Day?”

Despite CandyMan’s recent bad track record at getting me anything for Mother’s Day, I love to shop for him. I love shopping, period.  I love finding a good deal, and I have a special knack for finding just the right thing. You know–that present that he didn’t know that he wanted until he opened the package. That’s my talent.

So this year, CandyMan has not asked for anything, but I have a feeling that he needs some new shoes. Care to see what gave me that impression?

The old shoes

He’s been using his running shoes to powerwash houses and stain decks this Spring. I refuse to leave the house with a husband wearing shoes like that. So I had to do something about it. Improvement, yes?

New shoes, thanks to Marshalls

I found his new shoes at Marshalls for an unbelievable price. They were such a deal that I almost bought two pairs, but then I reconsidered and bought myself a little something instead. You would have done the same thing, right?

As you get ready to make those final Father’s Day preparations, off-price retailers T.J.Maxx and Marshalls would like to show you that anyone can find great Father’s Day gifts at unbeatable prices. Why waste your time wandering the mall when you can find all of your dad-approved gifts for up to 60% off department store prices. They’re so reasonable, in fact, that you might just feel compelled to pick up something for yourself (that makes any shopping trip worth it!)

Here are just a few gift ideas that are perfect for dad – no matter how hard he is to buy for:

Gifts for the “Tech Savvy” Dad:

• If dad is always in search of the newest gadgets, why not pick up some great accessories to pair with them? Get some MP3 add-ons like speakers, headphones or a leather carrying case to make his music listening experience a special one. You can also grab some fun laptop and office supplies that can make work more enjoyable.

Gifts for the “Sports Enthusiast”:

• For the sports fanatic in your life purchase some apparel from his favorite sports team so he can showcase his pride. You can complete the package with a new pair of brand-name sneakers.

Gifts for The Gourmet Chef Fanatic:

• What guy doesn’t like tools? Especially when they’re used to cook up a delicious meal. So make dad twice as happy this year with top-quality BBQ utensils and grill goodies. With summer right around the corner, new recipe book and apron will guarantee a summer full of tasty treats for the whole family.

Gifts for the “Beach Bum”:

• If dad is happiest at the beach, help him update those faded swim trunks and worn out flip flops with brand new beach gear.  Add in a beach towel and a pair of designer shades to
complete the look.

Gifts for the Groomed Man:

• Give him the ultimate treatment with brand name grooming accessories, shaving kits and designer colognes. You’ll find all the top names in personal care. And as a bonus for you, he’ll look and smell good. Bonus!

Gifts for Mr. Never On Time:

• A designer watch is a great gift for him and you. Especially when you can find one for so much less than fancy jewelry store prices. Bonus: he might be on time for a change!

And now, since I was not brave enough to bring my video camera (or my still camera for that matter) with me shopping, here’s a quick video shopping guide from Ali on the Go:

So what is Dad getting at your house?

Disclosure: I received a $50 gift card to Marshalls or TJMaxx to facilitate my honest review. All opinions are mine. The dirty shoes are my husband’s.

He is getting a decorated house, pineapple upside down cake (which is a feat for me because I hate pineapple), a guitar book he’s been asking for and he’s cooking dinner like he asked if he could. :-)

Thanks for the ideas. This year I’ve dropped the ball. Don’t know how it happened. But I’ve got to get it figured out and quick!

I have to add a bid for ROSS! Great junk to sift through there as well! Love the sad shoe pics! They almost seem to weep when placed next to the shiny new buy. Like a middle aged house wife next to the perky co-ed in the Victoria’s Secret dressing room….
But anyway, my hubs made father’s day easy this year. He flat out requested a watch since his broke last week. “Oh! Great! Done!” My father on the other hand; well, I just refuse to buy him a thing. He may say he loves it but will never even take it out of the box. Won’t even return it. It will sit for years collecting dust waiting for the day when he decides it is time to throw out the old….or he’ll give said gift away.
So, he’s getting a Father’s Day, homecooked, epicurious wonder!
(whatever that may me….still working on that….)
    Love this post!
