How to Make the Summer Last #JuicyFruitFunSide

Tuesday, September 2, 2014 by Lolli Leave a Comment

I participated in this sponsored campaign on behalf of One2One Network. All opinions stated are my own.

My summer was a whirlwind of excitement – road trips, camping, hiking…cousins, grandparents, new friends. School has officially started, but that doesn’t mean that summer time fun has to come to a complete halt.

This weekend’s Labor Day festivities (which, for us, included spending the afternoon on the Potomac River) might have been seen by most as the official end of summer. Yes, the pools have closed for the year and Fall sports may be starting….but there is still plenty of warm weather to enjoy.

If this summer’s cross country trip did anything for us, it was to awaken our hunger for all things outdoorsy. We are itching to find new places to explore (yes, things we haven’t found in our own backyard!) and we’re eager to keep making more family memories. Here are just a few tips to continue the summery family fun:

How to Make the Summer Last and Enjoy the Last Few Days of Sunshine

how to make summer last

  • Plan it! And make the weekends count. Plan simple – or elaborate – outings on the weekends. Take advantage of the still-nice weather of early Fall…as well as the smaller crowds. Whether you plan something big or something short and simple, you’ll be creating amazing memories together.
  • Park it! When my kids were little, we would head to the park every day after school when the weather was mild. Now that my kids are bigger, they aren’t as interested in slides and swings, but we still enjoy heading to the park after school. Instead of climbing the jungle gym, they work on their homework at the picnic table or read a book under the shade of a tree. Fresh air and no electronics to distract. Perfect!
  • Walk it! This is the perfect time of year for evening walks together. We have silly little games we play as we take the mile-or-so walk around the neighborhood. We get the benefit of family bonding time AND exercise. Bonus!
  • Cook it! Take advantage of the pleasant Fall evenings and BBQ outside…and don’t forget to invite a few friends over for a cookout with a crowd (food is always better when shared!).

What are your favorite ways to enjoy the last few days of summer?

Juicy Fruit Fruity Chews and Juicy Fruit Bubble Gum have been a fun, smile-inducing addition to our end-of-summer activities. It travels well whether you’re headed to the beach, pool, park, or passing time in the car (and, yes, gum is perfect for cross country road trips!). Below is a little info on the Juicy Fruit gum that we’ve been enjoying:
